Previous issue date: 2013 / Abstract : Depression grows exponentially, it is considered a common mental disorder that affects millions of people worldwide, is the fourth in terms of disease prevalence worldwide and a major cause of disability in the workplace and that contributes significantly to the rates mortality generated from the suicide cases. It is a chronic condition associated with functional disability and impaired general health of individuals resulting from genetic and environmental factors, arising from the interaction of biology with social factors. The health care of the individual with mental illness should be understood globalized, accordingly, the treatments should not be limited to the use of psychoactive drugs, but should also provide opportunities for awareness of changes in lifestyle and offer them opportunities participation in psychotherapy support , such as interpersonal therapy, behavioral, cognitive, group, couples and family, according to the case, in order to encourage them to personal motivation and the ability to reflect on the health- disease. The methods and tools used for the diagnosis of depression have been the target of much criticism regarding their limitations, due to the excessive fragmentation of the clinical mental disorders and the overlap of symptoms. As a result of this scenario, everyday situations and suffering inherent in life are to be coded as symptoms associated with mental disorders. The aim of this study was to analyze trends and medicalizantes desmedicalizantes forms of care for individuals with a diagnosis of depression from the reports of the health team. This study is characterized as a qualitative study, it ranks as the second field their means and descriptive according to their purposes. The study will be conducted in the Basic Health Units in Florianópolis. Will select five Basic Health Units, and one of each health district, defined from the simple random sampling technique. The selection of participants will be made by means of the technique of intentional sampling, in this case, participants were nominated by the coordinators of health facilities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and unstructured individual recorded. The data were analyzed according to thematic content analysis. This research was approved by the Ethics Committee of Human Research of the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC, in the opinion of number 200 442. It is observed that there is a tendency of the network of primary health care practices to maintain even medicalized, that keep individuals attached to the health system, from strategies illusory host of implications with the history of the subject and the emancipation of them but it is emphasized that there is a tendency to superficial and fragile way of medicalization, but can not stand still and keep out of the biomedical logic.
