Previous issue date: 2015 / Considerando as contribuições recentes que destacam as interações  materiais e simbólicas  entre os seres humanos e os animais (e outros não-humanos) como forma privilegiada para entender o social a partir de margens e sentidos ampliados, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo elaborar uma etnografia sobre as relações dos indígenas com os animais na vida cotidiana. A pesquisa teve como foco o povo Paï Tavyterä, sendo desenvolvida na aldeia Ita Guasu, no distrito de Pedro Juan Caballero, departamento de Amambay, Paraguai. Através das descrições das mitologias e das práticas cotidianas, a pesquisa faz uma tentativa de compreender o sistema e significados culturais Paï Tavyterä nos quais as interações seres humanos e animais estão inseridas, buscando observar as relações de diferentes atores  pessoas e animais  e descrever esses delicados fios que formam tais emaranhadas teias. É possível constatar que uma abordagem que separe ontologicamente a natureza e a cultura dificulta a compreensão destas relações, posto que a configuração hierárquica do cosmo faz com que cada ser que o habita tenha suas próprias características, intenções e estratégias para conviver, agir e alcançar seus objetivos.<br> / Abstract : Recent contributions highlight the - material and symbolic - interactions between humans and animals (and other non-humans) as a privileged way to understand the social from expanded margins and senses. Taking this in consideration, the following research aimed to develop a ethnography on the relations between animals and indigenous people in everyday life. It focused on the Paï Tavyterä peoples, and it had been developed in the indigenous community of Ita Guasu in Pedro Juan Caballero district, Amambay Department, Paraguay. This research is an attempt to understand the system and cultural meanings of the Paï Tavyterä, in which the relationship between humans and animals is found, through the descriptions of mythologies and everyday practices. The author seeks to observe the relations of different actors - human and animals - and describe how the delicate threads which form such intricate webs. It is possible to verify that an approach which separates nature and culture in an ontologically way make difficult to understand these relations. This is because, by the hierarchical configuration of the cosmos of Paï Tavyterä peoples, every being that inhabits it has its own characteristics, intentions and strategies to live, act and achieve their objectives.
