Para isto procurou-se observar, através da aplicação de três questionários (incluindo-se um pré-teste) com deficientes no Instituto Paranaense de Cegos, em Curitiba e com videntes (denominação para os que enxergam. Termo utilizado pelos próprios deficientes), qual é a importância deste veículo essencialmente falado para os que não enxergam. A dissertação também envolveu entrevistas com profissionais citados pelos cegos durante os levantamentos e com um pedagogo, deficiente visual, que falou sobre este relacionamento. Pelo estudo quis-se verificar em que momentos estes deficientes procuram este meio de comunicação de massa para se informarem e quais são os resultados relativos à eficácia desta informação. Pelos dados obtidos, constatou-se que o rádio, mesmo entre tantas mídias disponíveis, é ainda hoje uma das principais fontes para que o deficiente visual saiba o que ocorre na sociedade, já que, muitas vezes, ele não dispõe de outro veículo voltado às suas necessidades e adequado às suas possibilidades.
This study describes the results a research for a master's degree dissertation about the relationship between the radio and the blind. For this, three tests (including a pre-test) were applied for deficients in the Instituto Paranaense de Cegos, and for the people that are able to see, in Curitiba. The tests show the importance of this essentiatly spoken mass media for the blind. The dissertation also involved interviews with professionals mensioned by the blinds during the survey and with a blind educator, who spoke about this relationship. The study wanted to show in what moments these deficients look for this mass media to get information and what are the results in relation to this information. According to the data it was found that the radio, even with so many midia available in the world, still is one to the blind of the main sources of what happens in society, because sometimes, he doesn't have other media that fullfills his necessity and that is apropriete for his habilities.
