A partir de diferentes formas de mapeamento conceitual da categoria imagem, estuda as significações de signo visual e o discurso visual de professores de ensino técnico, descrevendo através de um "perfil de significação" as concepções de "imagem" do professor, que, em termos gerais, desconsideram conteúdos culturais e ideológicos, ou seja, descartam o seu potencial discursivo e de ferramenta de poder. A superação da alienação/reificação frente ao conceito de imagem ou signo visual requer a conseqüente apropriação reflexiva de uma fluência no discurso visual ou imagético, que estaria relacionada com a educação estético-visual crítica do professor.
This text explores philosophical and epistemological connections between visual semiotics and technological education, using, as beginning, the theory of semiotics of Charles Sanders Peirce. From different forms of mapping the image category, it studies the significations of visual sign and the visual discourse of technical and professional school teachers, describing their conceptions of "image" trough a "signification profile". In general terms, teachers do not consider cultural and ideological contents of the image, meaning they discard the discursive potential of the visual sign and its power relation building capacity. To overcome the alienation/reification in the use of images or visual signs it is necessary to acquire the consequent reflexive appropriation of knowledge in the visual/imagetic discourse, that may be related to the critical aesthetic-visual education of the teacher.
