A área da Tecnologia da Informação (TI) tem sido um diferencial na sustentabilidade das organizações em períodos de crises e instabilidades, facilitando adaptações e mudanças para um novo posicionamento no mercado. O alinhamento organizacional, especialmente o alinhamento da unidade de TI com a organização, é fator decisivo para a melhoria do desempenho organizacional. Para promover o alinhamento da unidade de TI com a organização, diversos métodos e frameworks foram desenvolvidos e estão disponíveis para adoção, mas o problema ainda é persistente. Para ampliar as possibilidades na forma de promover o alinhamento, um estudo de base interpretativista, focado em fatores subjetivos, presentes no relacionamento e na integração, foi realizado, nesta pesquisa, buscando uma percepção alternativa com vistas a melhor entender e explicar os fundamentos e as causas que alicerçam o problema. Optou-se, pela utilização dos procedimentos metodológicos da Teoria Fundamentada, com o objetivo de gerar uma teoria substantiva para o entendimento do alinhamento organizacional. A categoria central do estudo aponta para a necessidade de integração da unidade de TI na organização. Essa integração está presente em três perspectivas: na integração funcional; na integração das pessoas; e na integração da organização a partir dos serviços ofertados pela unidade de TI. Na dinâmica do processo de gestão organizacional, esta pesquisa define que, na organização pesquisada, é necessário focar na integração da unidade de TI para obter melhores níveis de alinhamento. Tem-se, assim, que o nível de alinhamento da unidade de TI com a organização é resultado das ações e interações desenvolvidas no ambiente organizacional. Este esforço na promoção do alinhamento organizacional determina o nível de maturidade nas ações do alinhamento e esse nível de maturidade permite alcançar maiores níveis de alinhamento organizacional. / The search for better organizational performance is the result of actions focused on quality management and production and from the need to maintain competitiveness in a dynamic and complex market. The area of Information Technology (IT) has been a difference in the sustainability of organizations in times of crises and instabilities, allowing precise adjustments and changes to a new market positioning. The organizational alignment, especially the alignment of IT unit to the organization, is a decisive factor for improving organizational performance, To promote the alignment of IT unit with the organization, several methods and frameworks have been developed and are available for adoption, but the problem is still persistent. To expand the possibilities in order to promote alignment, a basic interpretive study, focused on subjective factors in the relationship and integration was carried out this research, looking for an alternative perception in order to better understand and explain the reasons and causes that underlie the problem. We opted for the use of methodological procedures of Grounded Theory, aiming to generate a substantive theory to the understanding of organizational alignment. The central category of the study points to the need for integration of IT unit in organization. This integration is present in
three perspectives: the functional integration, the integration of people, and integrating the organization from the services offered by the IT Unit. In the dynamics of organizational management, this research establishes that, in the organization, it is necessary to focus on integrating IT Unit to obtain higher levels of alignment. There is, therefore, that the level of alignment of IT to drive the organization is a result of actions and interactions in the organizational environment. This effort in promoting organizational alignment determines the level of maturity in the actions of the alignment and level of maturity that allows to achieve higher levels of organizational alignment.
