This work surveys the main procedures and intervenient factors in order to select a constructive technology focusing on structural masonry systems. The listing is simple and easy to analyze; therefore, it proportionates a safe orientation. Besides, the main items which are considered to the introduction of new technologies in companies of civil construction are listed. In addition, the aid theory of decision making is analyzed concerning the technological employment. The research results show criteria that are perceived in a given space-time, therefore, they may vary and modify themselves since they do not express absolute values. Firstly, a questionnaire was applied to managers, engineers and owners of civil construction companies from Santa Maria. The questionnaire was about the choice of this new technology employed, i.e., structural masonry, in order to list the main conditions, benefits and pathologies of this structural system. Based on the diagnosis of both the questionnaire and the bibliographic revision about the aspects related to quality management and competitive strategies, one established a criteria list that should be observed
whenever one intends to implant and to select a new technology in the civil construction works. The most relevant criteria concerning new techniques were listed; however, the decisor responsible for selecting the new technique should evaluate the criteria that will be important to a certain undertaking which situates the company in the market. Whatever the chosen alternative, such choice should be based on criteria that assure service to most users needs. / O presente trabalho levanta os principais procedimentos e fatores intervenientes para selecionar uma tecnologia construtiva, pondo em foco o sistema de alvenaria
estrutural. A listagem mostra-se simples, de fácil análise, proporcionando assim uma orientação segura. Também, nele, listam-se os principais itens que são considerados para a introdução de novas tecnologias nas empresas de construção civil e, ainda, analisa-se a teoria de auxílio à tomada de decisão referente ao emprego tecnológico. Os resultados da pesquisa exibem critérios percebidos em um dado espaço de tempo, portanto, podem variar e podem se modificar, já que não traduzem valores absolutos. Parte-se de um questionário aplicado a dirigentes, engenheiros e proprietários de empresas de construção civil, da cidade de Santa Maria, acerca da
escolha da nova tecnologia empregada, no caso, a alvenaria estrutural, de forma a listar os principais condicionantes, benefícios e patologias desse sistema estrutural. A partir do diagnóstico, do questionário e da revisão bibliográfica dos aspectos relacionados à gestão da qualidade e das estratégias competitivas, estabelece-se uma lista de critérios que devem ser observados, sempre que se pretender implantar
e selecionar uma nova tecnologia nas obras da construção civil. Listam-se os critérios mais relevantes a respeito das novas técnicas, porém cabe ao decisor, a quem seleciona a nova técnica, avaliar os critérios que serão importantes para um determinado empreendimento que situa a empresa ante o mercado. Seja qual for a alternativa escolhida, tal escolha deverá ser fundamentada em critérios que assegurem atendimento da maioria das necessidades dos usuários.
