Os objetivos específicos foram conhecer características das relações familiares, conjugalidade, sexualidade, maternidade e expectativas de vida. O foco de atenção recaiu nas repercussões transgeracionais, nas questões de gênero e nas influências de dimensões históricas, sociais, étnicas, culturais e econômicas sob a experiência dessas mulheres. Participaram da pesquisa doze mulheres (avó, mãe e neta) de quatro famílias. Os dados foram coletados através de questionário demográfico e entrevistas semi-estruturadas. A análise de discurso revelou aspectos da transgeracionalidade intrafamiliar, tendencias de gênero e marcas da história e da cultura regional: as famílias são matrilineares; o cuidar e a maternidade são vistos como privilégios; as filhas vêem suas mães como guerreiras no exercício dos papéis de mãe e de pai; o papel do homem é secundário, como parceiro, provedor e pai; o exercício precoce da conjugalidade e da sexualidade está presente nas três gerações; autonomia sexual da mulher. Mulheres pobres da Região Norte do Brasil necessitam de políticas públicas que privilegiem a interação gênero, geração, raça, classe e cultura. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Abstract: The main objective of this qualitative research was to identify dimensions of the feminine condition of low income women of Manaus. The specific objectives were to understand the characteristics of family and marital relationships, sexuality, maternity and life expectations. The focuses of attention were the transgenerational repercussions, the gender issues, and the influences of historical, social, ethnic, cultural and economic dimensions on the experiences of these women. Twelve women - grandmothers, mothers and granddaughters of four families participated in the research. Data were collected with a demographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. A discourse analysis revealed aspects of the transgenerational transmission, gender trends and of the impact of the history and culture of the region: the families are matrifocal; maternity and caring for children and others are conceived as a privilege; the daughters see their mothers as “warriors” since they exercise the roles of mother and father; men have a secondary role as a partners, providers and fathers; women of all three generations begin their sexual and conjugal experiences at an early age; women have sexual autonomy. Impoverished women of the North Region of Brazil need to be the target of public policies centered on the interaction between gender, generation, race, social class and culture.
