Previous issue date: 2008-12 / A presente dissertação é o resultado da pesquisa sobre a comunicação on-line na mediação pedagógica do professor, tendo como objeto empírico um curso à distância de uma universidade virtual, a UNISUL Virtual, que atua em todo o Brasil e tem convênio com o Exército Brasileiro, permitindo que os alunos estudem a partir de qualquer cidade. O foco central da pesquisa é a comunicação on-line do professor na educação a distância com intuito de verificar se é possível uma comunicação dialógica entre professor e aluno num curso on-line. Utilizaram-se os seguintes procedimentos metodológicos: entrevistas, questionários e análise de documentos. A partir da análise dos resultados de uma amostra do curso de formação de professores em Matemática da UNISUL Virtual, percebeu-se que a comunicação entre professor e aluno neste curso não é dialógica. Na amostra pesquisada o diálogo apresentou-se de forma unidirecional e vertical, professorconteúdo- aluno, onde o aluno é colocado como um sujeito passivo, contemplativo e receptivo. Este estudo sinalizou também para as frustrações, expectativas, dilemas e anseios dos alunos num curso de formação de professores de matemática à distância. ________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The present dissertation is the result of the inquiry into on-line communication in the pedagogic mediation of the teacher. The element of this study being the long distance course of the virtual university, UNISUL Virtual. A course which operates all over Brazil, UNISUL Virtual currently holds an agreement with the Brazilian Army, allowing their members to study from any city. The primary focus of the inquiry is the on-line communication of the teacher in long distance education, seeking to establish if communication is possible between the teacher and the student in an on-line course. The following methodological proceedings were used: interviews, questionnaires and the analysis of documents. Based on the results of a sample of the course for Teachers’ qualification in Mathematics by UNISUL Virtual, it was perceived that the communication between the teacher and the student of this course was not conversational. In the sample analysed the dialogue appeared in a unidirectional and vertical form, teacher content student, in which case the student is seen as a passive, thoughtful and receptive subject. This case study sought to point out the frustrations, dilemmas, expectations and hopes of the students of the long distance course for teachers’ qualification in Mathematics.
