Previous issue date: 2008-06 / Objetivou-se avaliar as características de crescimento, Peso no Início da Concepção e Peso aos 550 dias de vida, em relação à variável resposta, Idade à Concepção, além dos efeitos fixos (Raça, Estação de nascimento e Ano de avaliação) e aleatórios (Criatórios), quem podem influenciar na precocidade sexual dos zebuínos de corte da categoria elite. Para a elaboração de um Modelo Misto, os dados foram obtidos através de um estudo observacional de 83 criatórios sob a condição de terem mais de dois animais a nos sete anos, totalizando 1263 pesagens de 421 animais. Foi utilizado PROC MIXED do SAS®, onde se verificou a existência de significância das (co)variáveis Peso no Início da Concepção e Peso aos 550 dias e em alguns casos dos efeitos raça, ano e estação, além de suas interações, demonstrando suas influências na variável resposta. O estudo se estendeu em analisar o comportamento das médias, e os resultados mostram que existe um comportamento inverso das (co)variáveis, sendo o Peso no Início da Concepção positiva e Peso aos 550 dias negativa, e que este peso deve ser acompanhado até a puberdade das novilhas de forma mais intensa, devido aos animais com menor peso corpóreo obterem precocidade sexual superior as demais e chegando aos 550 dias mais pesadas, comparativamente. Mesmo fornecido além das exigências dos animais, o manejo nutricional influencia a capacidade reprodutiva, pois o excesso de gordura interfere nas funções reprodutivas negativamente, além de mascarar outros efeitos que seriam identificados caso os animais não estivessem nas mesmas condições. ________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The goal was to evaluate the characteristics of growth, weight in the beginning of the conception, and weight on the 550th day of life, in relation to the variable answer, age to the conception, besides the fixed effects (race, station of birth and year of evaluation) and random (flocks), which can influence in the sexual precocity of the beef zebu of the elite category. For the elaboration of a mixed model, the data obtained through a study of observations of 83 flocks under the condition that they have more than two animals in the seven years, totaling 1263 weightings of 421 animals. PROC MIXED of SAS® was used, where the existence of the significance of the (co)variables of weight in the beginning of the conception and weight on the 550th day, and in some cases of the effects race, year and station, besides their interactions was verified, demonstrating their influences in the variable answer. The study extended in analyzing the behavior of the averages, and the results show that an inverse behavior of the (co)variables exists, being the weight in the beginning of the positive Conception and weight on the 550th day negative, and that this weight should be accompanied until the puberty of the heifers in a more intense way, due to the fact that the animals with smaller body weight obtain superior sexual precocity than the others and arriving at the 550th day comparatively heavier. Same supplied besides the demands of the animals, the nutritional handling influences the reproductive capacity, because the excess of fat interferes with the reproductive functions negatively, besides masking other effects that would be identified case the animals were not in the same conditions.
