2015_GlaucoVazFeijo.pdf: 3265496 bytes, checksum: 61dd68575a93399e9b0f0c6e563c588d (MD5) / Nesta tese, interpreto narrativas de trajetórias de vida de imigrantes coletadas por meio de entrevistas com brasileiros/as na Alemanha e em Portugal e tento responder à pergunta: quais são as fronteiras identitárias imaginadas dentro desses casos específicos de encontro intercultural com alteridades surgidas no processo de imigração e como essas alteridades agem na (re)construção de identidades? Reflito sobre a (re)construção identitária a partir da experiência de migração e busco entendê-la dentro de um processo histórico maior de construção de identidades nacionais. Trata-se de um trabalho interdisciplinar e vinculado à história do tempo presente. Complementarmente à história do tempo presente e ainda no campo da História, as ideias de memória cultural e comunicativa de Assmann são fundamentos das interpretações buscadas no trabalho. Tomo a memória comunicativa como manifesta nos textos das narrativas, e a memória cultural como os discursos que tento acessar por meio da interpretação desses textos. Proponho um hibridismo metodológico no qual trabalho com a História Oral, a Análise Crítica de Narrativa (ACN) e a Análise Crítica do Discurso (ACD) em uma interpretação histórico-cultural que considero vinculada à tradição interdisciplinar dos Estudos Culturais. Divido a tese em três partes, na Parte I contextualizo teórica e metodológica o trabalho. No capítulo 1, revelo a condução de toda a pesquisa e os pressupostos teórico-metodológicos que me orientaram, dando especial atenção às mudanças ocorridas no caminho. No capítulo 2, apresento o tema das migrações internacionais contemporâneas por meio de uma revisão da literatura que demonstra minha afiliação à tese de que vivemos a “era das migrações”. Resumo no capítulo 3 uma bibliografia em torno da ideia de nacionalidade de Anderson adotada nesta tese. E no capítulo 4, descrevo das categorias de interpretação da ACN e da ACD utilizadas na segunda parte do trabalho. Na parte II tento transformar as trajetórias de vidas narradas por minhas colaboradoras em interpretação cultural de narrativas e interpretação narrativa de culturas, como propõe Bal (1999). Divido os capítulos desta parte entre as interpretações das narrativas colhidas em Portugal, capítulos 5 e 6, e as interpretações das narrativas colhidas na Alemanha, capítulos 7 e 8. Tento, nos capítulos 5 e 7, dar uma visão geral das possibilidades latentes de identidades culturais vislumbradas entre as narrativas de Portugal e da Alemanha, respectivamente. Nos capítulos 6 e 8 trabalho minuciosamente com as ferramentas da ACD e da ACN na interpretação de duas narrativas selecionadas pelo critério de “passagens citáveis”. Para a ACN serve-me de base o trabalho de Motta (2013) e as categorias metodológicas de Labov (2006; 2010b). Para a ACD, sirvo-me das categorias de Van Leeuwen (2008) de representação de atores sociais e de categorias metodológicas de Fairclough (2003). A parte intitulada “Como terminar?” se resume ao capítulo de desfecho, no qual coloco lado a lado algumas interpretações das narrativas colhidas em Portugal e na Alemanha, como forma de identificar o peso de diferentes alteridades na (re)construção discursiva de identidades. Se tanto em Portugal quanto na Alemanha elementos da memória cultural acionado são semelhantes e se vinculam a uma identidade nacional brasileira discursivamente fundada na mestiçagem e na cordialidade, as narrativas construídas sobre a memória cultural sofrem também o impacto do presente e há diferenças sensíveis nas estratégias narradas e nas formas como a memória cultural fundada no discurso é manejada narrativamente pela memória comunicativa. Na Alemanha a diferença entre “nós” e “eles” é mais clara e as estratégias de aproximação são narradas como estratégias individuais entre “eu” e “eles”. Em Portugal as ambivalências entre alteridade e identidade são mais profundas e aproximações e afastamentos são majoritariamente movimentos coletivos entre “nós” e “eles”. / In this thesis, I interpret narratives of life trajectories of immigrants, gathered through interviews with Brazilians in Germany and Portugal. I try to answer the question: What are the imagined boundaries of identity in these specific cases of intercultural encounters with otherness, arising during the immigration process. I ponder on the (re)construction of identities within the migration experience and I seek to understand these processes within the larger historical process of national identity construction. This is an interdisciplinary work, linked to the history of the present time. In addition to the history of the present time and still in the field of history, Assmann’s ideas of cultural and communicative memory are the basis of the interpretations sought in this work. I take the communicative memory as manifested in the narrative texts and the cultural memory as the discourses I try to access through the interpretation of these texts. I propose a methodological hybrid in which I work with the Oral History, the Critical Analysis of Narrative (CAN) and the Critical Analysis of Discourse (CDA) for a historical-cultural interpretation which I consider to be linked to the interdisciplinary tradition of Cultural Studies. I divide the argument into three parts. In Part 1, I contextualize the work theoretically, methodologically and geographically. In Chapter 1, I seek to show the conduction of all the research and the theoretical and methodological principles that guided me. I pay particular attention to changes in the way this work. In Chapter 2, I present the topic of contemporary international migration through a review of the literature that shows my affiliation to the thesis that we live in the “era of migration”. In Chapter 3 I summarise a bibliography around Benedict Anderson’s idea of nationality, adopted in this thesis. To close the first part, in Chapter 4, I describe the categories of interpretation of the CAN and the CDA used in the second part. In Part II, I try to translate my coworkers’ lives trajectories into cultural interpretation of narratives and narrative interpretation of cultures, as proposed by Bal (1999). I divide the chapters in this part into the interpretations of the narratives collected in Portugal, chapter 5 and chapter 6, and the interpretations of the narratives collected in Germany, chapter 7 and chapter 8. I try, in chapters 5 and 7, to give an overview of the latent possibilities of cultural identities glimpsed between the narratives of Portugal and Germany, respectively. In chapters 6 and 8, I work closely with the CDA and CAN tools in the interpretation of two narratives selected by the criterion of “quotable passages”. For CAN I used as a basis the work of Motta (2013) and the methodological categories of Labov (2006; 2010). For the CDA, I used Van Leeuwen’s (2008) categories of representation of social actors and methodological categories of Fairclough (2003). The section entitled "How to end?" is summarized in the concluding chapter, in which I put side by side some interpretations of the narratives collected in Portugal and Germany, in order to identify the weight of different manifestations of otherness in the discursive (re)construction of identities. If both in Portugal and in Germany elements of cultural memory that were activated, are similar and are linked to a Brazilian national identity logically based on miscegenation and affection, the narratives constructed upon the cultural memory also suffer the impact of the present and there are appreciable differences in narratives strategies and in the ways in which cultural memory based on discourse is managed by the communicative memory. In Germany, the difference between "us" and "them" is clearer and approximation strategies are narrated as individual strategies between "I" and "them". In Portugal the ambivalence between otherness and identity are deeper and approaching and separating are mostly collective movements between "us" and "them".
