Previous issue date: 2007 / A evolução dos suportes tecnológicos nas comunicações parece interferir no conteúdo que é transmitido. Além de haver proporcionado mudanças na vida das pessoas, alterando o cotidiano e as rotinas de trabalho de milhares de profissionais, a internet também é responsável por transformações na notícia, principal produto do jornalismo. Este estudo visa identificar as mutações históricas no relato noticioso pré e pós-internet, e fazer uma classificação dos principais formatos de notícia hoje utilizados no jornalismo digital. Fazse distinção entre jornalismo digital, jornalismo on-line e jornalismo eletrônico. A pesquisa examina uma semana construída com material publicado por dois portais noticiosos ¿ o brasileiro uol.com.br e o argentino clarin.com. Introduz-se aqui o termo mutação, derivado das ciências biológicas, para tentar explicar algumas mudanças que incidem sobre a notícia no ambiente cibernético, numa perspectiva latino-americana. Os resultados da pesquisa podem ser um subsídio para a chamada ¿teoria da notícia¿. Num momento em que a migração de leitores da mídia tradicional preocupa a indústria da comunicação, um melhor conhecimento dos produtos noticiosos poderá ser útil na definição dos rumos que o jornalismo deverá tomar. A investigação sobre a notícia na internet é importante ainda para a identificação das fórmulas adequadas ao novo suporte, bem como para atender as necessidades, expectativas e exigências dos leitores/ consumidores/ usuários. __________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The development of technological aids in communications seems to have an effect on the
content that is transmitted. In addition to bringing about changes in people's lives and
changing the daily life and working habits of thousands of journalists the Internet is also
responsible for changes in the news, the main product of journalism. The aim of this study
is to identify the historic mutations in pre- and post-Internet news reporting and editing,
and to make a classification of the main news formats used today in digital journalism. A
distinction is made between digital, online and electronic journalism. The research
examines a week of material published on two news sites - the Brazilian uol.com and the
Argentinean clarin.com. We introduce the term ‘mutation’ here, taken from biological
sciences, to try to explain some changes that affect news in the cybernetic environment and
from a Latin American perspective. The results of the research may contribute towards the
so-called ‘theory of news’. At a time when the communications industry is worried about
the migration of readers away from traditional media, a better understanding of news
products might be useful in defining the directions journalism should take. Research on
news on the Internet is also important in order to identify satisfactory formulae for
creating the new aids, as well as satisfying the needs, expectations and demands of
readers/consumers.
