Previous issue date: 2006-08 / A presente dissertação corresponde aos trabalhos de investigação realizados para alcançar o grau de Mestre em Ciência Política pelo Instituto de Ciência Política, da Universidade de Brasília. A dissertação trata do crescimento da bancada do Partido dos Trabalhadores na Câmara dos Deputados entre 1994 e 2002 à luz da Teoria Contingencial de Administração. Comumente este aumento é visto como conseqüência natural de outros fatores como, por exemplo, o carisma de seu maior líder, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. O objetivo é mostrar que ele também é fruto de estratégias especialmente adotadas pelo partido para este fim. Para desenvolvimento do trabalho foram feitas entrevistas estruturadas com deputados federais do PT da atual legislatura, pesquisa semi-estruturada com membros da Executiva Nacional do partido, além de pesquisa bibliográfica, documental, em revistas, jornais e periódicos. ________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The present dissertation corresponds to the investigative efforts to achieve the Master’s Degree in Political Science by the University of Brasília’s Political Science Institute. The dissertation covers the growth of the Worker’s Party’s (PT) bench in the House of Representatives between 1994 and 2002 based on Contingencial Theory of Administration. Usually the increase is seen as a natural consequence of others factors, such as, the charisma of the party’s main leader, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The objective is to show that this increase is also a product of strategies especially used to achieve this outcome. In the development of the study, structured interviews with present PT’s Federal Representatives and semi-structured researches with members of the party’s National Executive were accomplished, along with bibliographical and documental researches in magazines and periodical newspapers.
