Previous issue date: 2006 / O trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a composição e distribuição espaço-temporal
das comunidades de macroinvertebrados bentônicos encontradas no Vão do Paranã-GO,
para posterior indicação de áreas prioritárias para sua conservação na região.
A sub-bacia do Rio Paranã esta inserida na bacia hidrográfica do Tocantins-
Araguaia, localizada no Planalto Central do Brasil entre os paralelos 2° e 18° e os
meridianos de longitude 46° e 56°. Apesar de ser uma área riquíssima em ambientes
aquáticos e de apresentar grande importância biológica, o Vão do Paranã é extremamente
carente de estudos limnológicos.
As coletas foram realizadas em 27 pontos (ambientes lênticos e lóticos) em dois
períodos do ano, agosto referente ao período de seca, e março referente ao período chuvoso.
Para isso a metodologia de avaliação rápida foi feita com auxílio de redes manuais (0,2 cm
de abertura) durante quinze minutos.
Os resultados demonstraram que a composição de macroinvertebrados encontrada
no Vão do Paranã é típica do bioma Cerrado e indica uma boa integridade ecológica. A
estrutura desta comunidade se diferencia em resposta à variação das ordens dos rios,
sinalizando a importância da preservação de áreas com diferentes tamanhos de rios.
Diante disso, critérios como raridade, representatividade e proteção das duas
margens do Paranã, foram utilizados para a seleção de áreas para conservação da
macrofauna bentônica. ________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The objective of this work is to evaluate the composition and the space-temporal
distribution of the communities of bentic macroinvertebrates found in the Paranã River
(Goiás, Brazil), for later indication of the priority areas to be conserved in that region.
The watershed Paranã River is inserted in the hydrographical Tocantins-Araguaia,
located in Central Plateaus of Brazil. Although it is a very rich area in aquatic environments
and present great biological importance, there are not many limnologic studies about the
Paranã River. The collections were carried through in 27 points (lentic and lotic) in two
periods of the year, referring August to the period of drought, and referring March to the
rainy period. The methodology of fast evaluation was made with manual nets (0,2 cm of
opening) during fifteen minutes in each season throughout the 27 points of collection.
The results demonstrated that the composition of macroinvertebrates found in the
Paranã river is typical of the bioma Cerrado and indicate a good ecological integrity. The
structure of this community differentiates according to the variation of the orders of the
rivers. Signaling the importance of the preservation of areas with different sizes of rivers.
An area was selected based on the following criteria of biological diversity: rarity, greatest
representation of taxa and the protection of two riversides of the Paranã river.
