Previous issue date: 2009-03 / Esta dissertação aborda representações do regime militar brasileiro, por meio de relatos e desenhos de humor de quatro chargistas que trabalharam um deles ainda continua trabalhando no jornal de maior circulação no Distrito Federal, o Correio Braziliense, no período compreendido entre 1971 aos dias atuais. No desenvolvimento da pesquisa, procurei associar as histórias de vida colhidas e as charges publicadas ou guardadas no acervo particular desses desenhistas Lopes, Racsow, Kacio e Oscar com alguns conceitos advindos do campo da chamada história cultural. Dessa pesquisa emergem algumas reflexões: as visões e relações desses desenhistas sobre o regime ditatorial; a transição desse período autoritário para o regime democrático; a censura e o controle do Estado, da direção do jornal e a autocensura à produção e circulação desses desenhos, no passado e no presente; as possibilidades e limites desse gênero artístico, enquanto instrumento de crítica e resistência aos diferentes poderes. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / In this dissertation, I analyze some representations of the Brazilian military regime through stories and cartoons by four cartoonists who worked and one still do in the largest newspaper of the Federal District, the Correio Braziliense, since 1971. During this research, I tried to associate life stories and drawings either in public domain or privately stored by the designers Loeps, Racsow, Kacio and Oscar with some concepts extracted from the field of the so called cultural history. This research sheds light on: the way these cartoonists saw dictatorship are made clear as well as; the transition between this authoritarian period to the democratic regime; Government censorship and control; censorship from the newspapers office itself, and self-restrictions against production and publication of such cartoons, in the past and in the present; and the prospects and limitations of this artistic category as a tool for challenging various sources of power.
