Previous issue date: 2009 / Este trabalho tem como objetivo investigar o processo de implantação dos CIEPs no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, importante exemplar de arquitetura escolar, que através de um modelo único, teve mais de quinhentas unidades implantadas no estado, tornando-se, então, um fértil campo para a análise da arquitetura escolar pública no Brasil. Preliminarmente a análise dos CIEPs foi traçado um panorama da arquitetura pública escolar, precedido pela reflexão do papel da escola na cidade e da sua relação com a arquitetura. Pois para um melhor entendimento da arquitetura do CIEP, a identificação dos momentos em que a arquitetura e a educação foram usadas conjuntamente em políticas governamentais se faz necessária. Os CIEPs são analisados então, quanto ao seu projeto arquitetônico, à implantação de seus elementos no tecido urbano e aos reflexos decorrentes da forma de sua inserção neste. Apontando-se posteriormente os caminhos desenhados nos dias atuais na busca de uma melhor integração entre a escola e a cidade através de sua arquitetura. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This work aims at analysing the process of implementation of CIEPs in the State of Rio de
Janeiro, an important reference in school architecture, a unique model with more than five
hundred units built in Rio de Janeiro. For this reason, the CIEPs have become a fertile
ground of the public architecture in Brazil.
Previous to the analysis of the CIEPs was outlined an overview of the public school
architecture, preceded by the reflection of the role of the school in the city and its
relationship with architecture. Therefore for a better understanding of the CIEP
architecture, it is necessary to identify the moments where architecture and education were
used together in government policy.
The CIEPs are analysed through its architectural project and the implementation of its
elements in the urban mesh and the consequences that come from the form of its insertion
in it.
At last this work will point out the current ways used in the search for a better integration
between the school and the city through its architecture.
