Previous issue date: 2009 / Nas últimas décadas o debate sobre desenvolvimento vem se intensificando, pois os
modelos implementados tornaram-se inadequados. Uma nova visão emergiu
recentemente calcada no desenvolvimento sustentável. Neste contexto, também o espaço
rural, o local/regional, ganha relevância no Brasil e começa a tomar novos contornos para
adequar-se à conjuntura que ora se apresenta. Observa-se igualmente que, ao longo dos
anos, o ensino profissional vem se tornando cada vez mais estratégico para o
desenvolvimento socioeconômico do país, principalmente se considerarmos o atraso
tecnológico de diversos setores da economia e de muitas regiões. O presente trabalho
tem como propósito compreender a participação do ensino técnico profissional de nível
médio no desenvolvimento local/regional. Mais especificamente, estuda a inserção da
Escola Agrotécnica Federal de Sombrio na dinâmica do desenvolvimento da microrregião
Extremo Sul Catarinense, através da oferta do curso Técnico Agrícola com Habilitação em
Agropecuária, visto que a referida região, considerada uma das mais pobres do Estado,
tem sua economia fundamentada no setor agrícola. Para se compreender esta inserção
se fez necessário ouvir os dirigentes das quatro maiores empresas do setor agropecuário
da região, das quais duas são cooperativas e uma pública, bem como egressos do curso
agropecuário da Escola, tanto os que trabalham nessas empresas em sua área de
formação, como também aqueles que retornaram as suas propriedades e hoje são
agricultores. Observa-se com esta pesquisa a importância do ensino técnico-agrícola para
a microrregião, a contribuição deste para o setor agropecuário, colocando no mercado a
grande maioria dos técnicos que prestam assistência técnica ao produtor rural, o que vem
possibilitando nos últimos anos a qualificação destes agricultores. Verificou-se também
que esta inserção poderia ser potencializada, se a instituição estivesse mais próxima das
empresas e da comunidade, o que permitiria uma leitura mais apurada da realidade e
consequentemente das necessidades do espaço onde está inserida. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / In recent decades the debate on development has been intensified, because the model
implemented has become inadequate. Recently emerged a new vision based on
sustainable development. In this context, also the rural areas, the local / regional gains
relevance in our country and begins to take new shape, to adapt to the situation that now
presents itself. It is also noted that over the years vocational education has become
increasingly strategic for the country's socioeconomic development, especially considering
the technological backwardness of many sectors of the economy, and in many regions.
Looking a little further understand this relationship, this work is to understand the
participation of professional technical education at the secondary level in the regional /
local development, specifically studying the integration of the Escola Agrotécnica Federal
de Sombrio in the dynamic development of the Extreme South of Santa Catarina
microregion, its region of coverage, by offering the course with Agricultural Technical
Empowerment in Agriculture, because the region has its economy based on agriculture is
considered one of the poorest in the state. In order to understand this integration was
necessary to hear the leaders of the four largest companies in the agricultural sector in
the region, three individuals, two of which are cooperatives and one public, and of course
agricultural graduates of the School who work in these businesses in their area of training
and also those who returned their property and now are farmers. There is a search with
the importance of technical education for the agricultural micro contribution to the
agricultural sector, making the market the majority of the technicians who provide
technical assistance to rural producers, which has in recent years allowing the
classification of these farmers. It also appeared that this insertion could be stronger if the
institution is closer to the business and the community, which would allow a more
accurate reading of reality and therefore the needs of the area where it is inserted.
