Previous issue date: 2006-06-08 / Com o intuito de contribuir para literatura existente, acrescentando a esta, mais uma alternativa de pesquisa dos efeitos da TI no desempenho das empresas, a presente dissertação teve como objetivo investigar o impacto da utilização de sistemas ERP no desempenho das indústrias de transformação da RMR. A pesquisa utilizou o método indutivo, e enquadra-se quanto aos objetivos em pesquisa exploratória, quanto aos procedimentos em levantamento ou survey, quanto à abordagem do problema em quantitativa e qualitativa. Foram entrevistados trinta gestores e funcionários atuantes nas áreas: TI, Vendas e Marketing, Contabilidade/Finanças, Fabricação e Recursos Humanos de sete indústrias de transformação da RMR. O questionário utilizado nas entrevistas conteve perguntas abertas e fechadas. As perguntas abertas objetivaram identificar os benefícios e as dificuldades na utilização de sistemas ERP, segundo a opinião dos usuários entrevistados. As perguntas fechadas foram formuladas para obter informações sobre o perfil dos entrevistados, bem como, verificar o desempenho das empresas pesquisadas antes e depois da implantação de sistemas ERP, por meio de um conjunto de indicadores de desempenho específicos a cada área funcional pesquisada, onde os entrevistados expressaram sua opinião sobre o comportamento de cada indicador, utilizando-se de uma escala de Lickert possibilitando seis níveis de respostas. A pesquisa foi delineada de modo a possibilitar responder as seguintes questões da pesquisa: Q1 - Como gestores e funcionários avaliam o desempenho de sua empresa, antes e depois da implantação do sistema ERP?; Q2 – Houve diferenças significativas no comportamento dos indicadores de desempenho pesquisados após a implantação do sistema ERP?; Q3 - Quais os benefícios e as dificuldades do uso dos sistemas ERP para o desempenho das principais áreas funcionais das empresas; Q4 - Há relação entre as características dos gestores ou funcionários e a percepção destes sobre os benefícios promovidos pela implantação de sistemas ERP?. As informações coletadas revelaram que: a) a maioria das empresas pesquisadas utilizam sistemas ERP nacionais; b) a alta administração exerce o controle direto sobre as áreas funcionais; c) para os entrevistados, houve melhora no comportamento de vários indicadores de desempenho, contudo eles não atribuem esta melhora especificamente à utilização do sistema ERP, e sim, à capacidade de gerenciamento de seus gestores; d) verificou-se a existência de diferença significativa nas variações de comportamento nos seguintes indicadores: Volume de vendas, Investimento em informatização, Nível de capacidade utilizada, Índice de defeitos na linha de montagem, e Produtividade; e) o benefício Agilidade, e as dificuldades de utilização, manutenção e atualização do sistema foram as mais citadas pelos entrevistados; f) apenas foi possível concluir pela evidência de associação entre o benefício Facilidade de manuseio, e a característica dos entrevistados Escolaridade.
_________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / With the intention of contribute to the existing literature adding to this one more alternative of research of the effects of IT in the performance of the companies, the present dissertation aimed investigate the impact of the utilization of ERP systems in the performance of the transforming industries of RMR. The research used the inductive method and it fits concerning the goals in exploratory research, concerning the proceedings in survey, concerning the approach of the problem in quantitative and qualitative. Thirty managers and employees were interviewed who act in areas: TI, sales and marketing, accountancy/finances, manufacture and human resources of seven companies of RMR. The questionnaire used in the interviews had open and closed questions. The open questions aimed to identify which benefits and difficulties in the utilization of ERP systems, according to the interviewed users' opinion. The closed questions were formulated to get information about the profile of the interviewees, as well as verify the performance of researched companies before and after the implementation of ERP systems by means of the utilization of a set of performance indicators specific each researched functional area, where the interviewees expressed their opinion about the behavior of each indicator by using a Lickert scale becoming possible six levels of answers. The research was delineated in way to enable answer the following questions of the research: Q1 – How managers and evaluate the performance of their company, before and after the implementation of ERP systems?; Q2 – Were there significant differences after the implementation of ERP system?; What are the benefits and difficulties of the use of ERP system for the performance of the main functional areas of the companies?; Is there relation between the features of the managers or employees and the perception of these over the benefits promoted by the implementation of ERP systems?. The collected information revealed that: a) most of the researched companies use national ERP systems; b) the top management practice the direct control over the functional areas; c) to the interviewees there was an improvement in the behavior of several indicators, however this improvement is not especially attributed to the utilization of ERP systems, but to the capacity of management of their administrators; d) It was verified the existence of a significant difference in the variations of the behavior in the following indicators: sales volume, IT investment, capacity utilization rate, defects in assembly line rate, and productivity; e) The benefit Agility and the difficulties of utilization, maintenance and updating of the system were the most cited by interviewees; f) that was only possible to conclude by the evidence of association between the benefit Facility of handling and the feature of the interviewees School-time.
