Previous issue date: 2008-07 / Rastrear as pegadas a respeito da natureza e dos índios que ficaram registradas nas percepções dos conquistadores do século XVIII é a pretensão dessa tese. Privilegiou-se o exame de um conjunto de narrativas: as Notícias Práticas das Minas do Cuyabá, compiladas pelo padre matemático Diogo Soares, entre 1730 e 1740. Produzidos por sertanistas paulistas, práticos nos caminhos dos rios de São Paulo a Cuiabá, esses relatos transmitem visões dos sertões representadas em uma reinvenção edênica sobre os gentios e a natureza como objetos de conquista. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / To follow the tracks of nature and of the Indigenous people who were registered in the perceptions of the conquerors of the 18th century is the claim of this thesis. It was privileged the examination of a set of narratives: The Practical News of the Mines of the Cuyabá, compiled by the mathematical priest Diogo Soares, between 1730 and 1740. Produced by hinterland explorers of Sao Paulo, experts in the ways of the rivers from Sao Paulo to Cuiabá, these reports transmit visions of the backwoods represented in a reinvenction of the paradise on the pagans and nature as objects of conquest.
