As representações sociais, resultados de processos históricos e simbólicos, dão corpo e configuram a organização da sociedade em seus vários momentos. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o papel das representações sociais da moradia, no contexto dos condomínios irregulares de classe média em Brasília, um fenômeno urbano que tem promovido inúmeras discussões acerca de suas causas. O estudo foi realizado com moradores de condomínios irregulares, por meio de entrevistas episódicas, analisadas pelo software ALCESTE (Análise Lexical Contextual de um Conjunto de Segmentos de Texto). Os dados obtidos reforçam a hipótese de que as representações sociais atribuídas pela classe média à moradia e ao "verde" estariam gerando práticas sócio-espaciais contrárias ao planejamento da cidade modernista. Foram identificadas representações comuns aos sujeitos e que se referem ao significado da moradia para a classe média, como a qualidade de vida, a segurança e a proximidade com a natureza. Os fatores identificados que objetivam a ilegalidade relacionam-se às características financeiras, a falta de políticas públicas destinadas a essa classe e as condições da antiga moradia. Ancorando as representações da moradia estão a segurança e a qualidade de vida usufruída na infância na casa dos pais, mas também as representações da ilegalidade urbana em Brasília, a partir da prática da impunidade. Portanto, os condomínios horizontais fechados irregulares de Brasília, pelas suas singularidades, devem ser compreendidos como resultado de práticas sócio-espaciais, relacionadas às novas lógicas de reconhecimento instauradas pela sociedade globalizada na cidade. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The complexity of the city imposes the challenge of being analysed according to the perspective of procedures that compose it, of wich are not restricted to the economic production, since they also express a group of ideas, values, beliefs and attitudes. The social representations, result of historic procedures and representatives give body and show the organization of the society in its various moments. The objective of this work is to analyse the function of the social representations of residence in the context of the irregular condominiums of middle-class in Brasilia, an urban phenomenon that has created several discussions about its causes. The study was done with the residents of irregular condominiums through episodic interviews, analysed by the software ALCESTE (Lexical Analysis of occurrences in simple announcements of a text). The data gotten reinforce the hypothesis that the social representations attributed by the middle-class to the residence and to the "green" would be generating social and spacial practices contrary to the plan of the modern city. Common representations were identified to the subjects and that refer to the meaning of residence to the middle-class, according to the quality of life, safety and the proximity of nature. The identified factors that show the illegality are related to the financial characteristics, to the lack of public policies directed to this class and to the conditions of the old residence. Supporting the representations of residence are the safety and the quality of life enjoyed in the infancy at the parenfs house, but also the representations of the urban illegality in Brasilia, from the practice of impunity. Therefore the irregular horizontal closed condominiums of Brasilia, for their singularity must be understood as the result of social and spacial pratices, related to the new logics established by the global society in the city.
