O pensamento ocidental - fundamentado
na visão e nos signos relacionados à luz como maneira hegemônica de denominar e perceber a realidade/verdade – é questionado pela cegueira, pela distinção com que esta relaciona sua percepção ao que conhece no mundo. Assim, procuramos sondar o
horizonte de significados da luz e da escuridão, a fim de trilhar um caminho que não esteja encerrado por estas oposições e pelas diferenças engendradas por elas.
___________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This dissertation is based on the interpretations of the motion picture "City Lights”, of the short story "The country of the blind" and of the philosophical text "A luz e o cego"
and it discusses the different ways of perceiving the world and giving meaning to it.
The Western thought – which is fundamentally based on vision and on the signs related
to light as a main stream way to dominate and perceive reality/truth – is questioned by
blindness and the distinction by which it relates its perception on what it knows about
the world. Thus, we wish to probe on the horizon of the meanings of light and
darkness, in order to trail a path that is not restricted by these oppositions and by the
differences it produced.
