sentidos, dentre outros: (a) uma sociedade solidária, tendente à sustentabilidade,
entendida como a possibilidade de reduzir desigualdades intrageracionais e, ao mesmo
tempo, evitar uma degradação social que provoque desigualdades intergeracionais; e (b) o estabelecimento de relações emancipatórias, entendendo-se emancipação como justiça capacitante, e justiça como a distribuição de bens materiais, processos de decisão, divisão social do trabalho, cultura e reconhecimento. Entendemos que nenhuma mudança paradigmática se dá sem a mudança do self, mediador entre conhecimento e prática. A experiência de voluntariado afeta o self, ao favorecer a flexibilização de posicionamentos e possibilitar a construção de uma cultura dialógica, implicando uma reflexão ética no processo de desenvolvimento humano. Desenvolvimento é entendido neste estudo, segundo a perspectiva da psicologia sociocultural, como processos de transformações que ocorrem na interação eu-outro, marcadas pelas negociações de significados que se
concretizam nessas interações no contexto cultural. O contexto do voluntariado é
potencialmente favorável ao desenvolvimento de esquemas intencionais - estruturas que
organizam nossos atos internamente - implicando ética, compreendida como a busca da vida boa para si e para o outro, próximo e distante no espaço e no tempo. A pesquisa
empírica com sete voluntários de uma comunidade soropositivo enfoca os sentidos das vivências do fenômeno do voluntariado, apontando interseções com os significados de
ética e de sustentabilidade. O objetivo geral foi construir um novo marco de conhecimento sobre este potencial humano – o voluntariado - situado na interface com a ética e a sustentabilidade. Para tal, teve como objetivos específicos: (a) analisar os sentidos, posicionamentos e mudanças de posicionamentos na prática voluntária; e (b) identificar esquemas intencionais possíveis de se constituírem no contexto do voluntariado e que são congruentes com uma sociedade tendencialmente sustentável. Quatro perguntas nortearam a pesquisa. (1) O que caracteriza as interações no contexto do voluntariado? (2) Essas características interatuam em outros contextos da vida do voluntário? (3) Que eventos colocaram os voluntários em situação de crise e em transição? (4) Que mudanças proporcionadas no contexto do voluntariado integram as possibilidades de sustentabilidade? Utilizamos a metodologia qualitativa, nos marcos da fenomenologia, adotando uma postura dialética histórico-materialista. Realizamos entrevistas semiestruturadas,
individuais, com parâmetros da entrevista narrativa, as quais foram submetidas à análise dialógica dos significados e à análise pragmática do discurso. Os
resultados indicam que o contexto de voluntariado favorece o estabelecimento de novas formas de sociabilidades, o desenvolvimento de um ser humano mais reflexivo no seu fazer social e profissional, com mais capacidade para propor e realizar intervenções adequadas em seu entorno sociocultural, com conhecimento e habilidade para o exercício da cidadania em contextos diversos, complexos e fluídos. Esquemas intencionais emergentes nesse contexto potencializam a perspicácia ética e a sustentabilidade. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Potential paradigm changes in the context of volunteering point in two directions, along
with others: (a) A solidary society, aimed at sustainability, understood as the possibility of reducing intra-generational inequality and, at the same time, of avoiding a social degradation that causes intergenerational inequality; and (b) the establishment of emancipatory relationships, understanding emancipation as empowering justice, and justice as the distribution of material goods, decision-making processes, social division of labor, culture and recognition. We understand that no paradigm shift takes place without the change of self, a mediator between knowledge and practice. The experience of volunteering affects the self, by favoring a flexibility of positioning, and enabling the
construction of a dialogic culture, implying an ethical reflection upon the process of human development. Development is understood in this study, according to the perspective of socio-cultural psychology, as processes of transformation that occur in the interaction selfother, marked by negotiations of meanings which are realized in those interactions in the cultural context. The context of volunteerism is potentially favorable to the development of
intentional schemas - structures that organize our acts internally - implying ethics, understood as the pursuit of good life for the self and the other near and far in space and time. The empirical research with seven volunteers from an HIV- positive community focuses on the sense of the experiences of the volunteerism phenomenon, demonstrating intersections with the meanings of ethics and sustainability. The overall goal was that of building a new milestone of knowledge on this human potential – volunteering - situated in
the interface with ethics and sustainability. To do so, the study had as its specific objectives: (a) Analyze the senses, positioning and changes of standing in volunteering practice; and (b) identify intentional schemas possible of being constituted in the context of volunteerism and which are congruent with a society tending to be sustainable. Four questions guided the present research: (1) What characterizes the interactions in the
context of volunteerism? (2) Do these characteristics interact in other contexts of a volunteer`s life? (3) Which events placed the volunteers in crisis and in transition? (4) Which changes provided in the context of volunteerism integrate the possibilities of sustainability? We use qualitative methodology in the framework of phenomenology, adopting a dialectic and historical-materialistic posture. We conducted semi-structured interviews with individual parameters of the narrative interview. The interviews were
submitted to the dialogic analysis of meanings and to the pragmatic analysis of
discourse. The results indicate that the context of volunteering promotes the establishment of new forms of sociability; the development of a human being who is more reflective of his/her social and professional doing, with more capacity to propose and implement appropriate interventions in his/her sociocultural surroundings, with knowledge and skill for
the exercise of citizenship in various complex and fluid contexts. The intentional schemas which emerge in this context augment perceptivity in ethics and sustainability.
