Isso se dá, possivelmente, em decorrência da recuperação, por Saramago, das odes do poeta neoclássico Ricardo Reis, heterônimo de Fernando Pessoa, trazendo esses textos para o interior do universo ficcional e causando uma mescla entre os gêneros (prosa/poesia, poesia/prosa), de modo a ser possível questionar, inclusive, como se estabelecem os limites entre os gêneros literários, já que o texto vai se construindo de forma híbrida. Esse tipo de procedimento legitima-se pelo fato do escritor utilizar-se do espaço romanesco, que permite a junção dessas duas formas de manifestação artística e estética: o romance resgata, assimila, transforma, deforma, (des)constrói e reconstrói, por meio do processo intertextual, os diferentes discursos de que se apropria. Além disso, paralelamente, existe uma discussão metalingüística, ou seja, o tratamento das artimanhas da linguagem no momento do ato de escrever, que se instala na narrativa por meio dos diálogos entre Ricardo Reis e Fernando Pessoa. O resultado desse processo literário de recriação da poesia de Fernando Pessoa é, segundo a análise feita, uma revisitação, por parte de Saramago, de toda a tradição clássica, assim como de sua poesia e de sua própria postura frente a literatura. / The current study proposes an analysis of the creative process of literary construction developed in the narrative The year of Ricardo Reis'death, by José Saramago, having as a base the intertextuality and the metalanguage that support the fundamental issue of the research: the fact that it seems to have the existence of a certain tension between prose and poetry in the novel. That occurs probably resulting from the recuperation, by Saramago, of the odes of the neoclassical poet Ricardo Reis, Fernando Pessoa's heteronymous, bringing these texts to the inside of the fiction universe and causing a mixture between the genres (prose/poetry, poetry/prose) so that it is possible to question, inclusive, if what happens is a poetry in form of prose or a sort of poetic prose, since the text is built itself with a hybrid form. This kind of procedure legitimates itself by the fact that the writer uses the romantic space, what allows the joint of these two ways of artistic and aesthetcs manifestation. The novel ransoms, assimilates, transforms, distorts, constructs, destroys and reconstructs the different speeches which it takes as its own, through the intertextual process. Besides, in a parallel way, there is a metalinguistic discussion, that is, the treatment of the language artifices at the moment of the writing act, that is settled in the narrative through the dialogues between Ricardo Reis and Fernando Pessoa. The outcome of this literary process of Fernando Pessoa's poetry re-creation is a revisit of all the classical tradition by Saramago's part, as well as of his poetry, and his own poetical making, according to the analysis performed.
