Previous issue date: 2004 / Resumo: O processo de realização das funções de uma Universidade se processa nas diversas atividades intra e extramuros de forma concomitante, pois não temos como diferenciar cada função. O texto é um esforço no sentido de perceber o que motiva uma instituição de ensino superior, caracterizada como confessional e de função espiritual/teológica, a proclamar para a sociedade que a sua missão é a de formar o homem integral; buscar respostas aos desafios que comprometem a vida; proclamar, estimular e promover a fraternidade universal e o respeito a todas as criaturas. É uma tentativa de entender o que leva uma instituição de ensino superior a escrever como sua missão a formação integral do homem, sabendo embora que a formação do homem se dá num processo contínuo e não apenas naqueles anos em que o aluno fica na instituição. E que todas as instituições educacionais formais oferecem ao aluno apenas fragmentos do processo educacional. Na reflexão procuraremos contextualizar a Universidade São Francisco, entendendo por contextualizar o exercício de desenvolver temas mais abrangentes que tangenciam a Universidade em sua finalidade, existência e função histórica. A Universidade São Francisco não está sozinha nesta busca da formação integral do homem: é uma Universidade particular e isto tem uma história no Brasil. A própria idéia de Universidade comporta diversas posições e interfaces de análise. As orientações e explicitações do processo educacional pela Igreja Católica servem como parâmetros para a rede mundial de escolas católicas (em seus diversos níveis). Ao expor a sua missão, a Universidade São Francisco está em sintonia com a sua fidelidade à sua confessionalidade religiosa que professa e sua opção de evangelizar os jovens, não apenas oferecendo os recursos comuns de uma Universidade, mas uma formação integral cristã, ou seja, a mensagem do evangelho encarnada na realidade social de seu tempo e de sua função. Enfim, estes são os diversos olhares do tema que enfocaremos em nossa reflexão da missão da Universidade São Francisco, reflexão que desenvolverá um movimento como o microscópio com seu foco, ora estreito e bem diminuto, ora mais aberto para análises de varredura / Abstract: The process of accomplishment of the functions of a University if processes in the diverse activities intra and extrawalls of concomitant form, therefore we do not have as to differentiate each function. The text is an effort in the direction to perceive what it motivates institution of a superior, characterized education as confessional and of espiritual/teológica function, to proclaim for the society that its mission is to form the integral man; to search answers to the challenges that compromise the life; to proclaim, to stimulate and to promote the universal fraternity and the respect to all the creatures. It is an attempt to understand what it takes an institution of superior education to write as its mission the integral formation of the man, knowing even so that the formation of the man if gives not only in a continuous process and in those years where the pupil is in the institution. E that all only fragmentos the formal educational institutions offer the pupil of the educational process In he reflection we will look for to contextualizar the San Francisco University, understanding for contextualizar the exercise to develop subjects more including than they tangenciam the University in its purpose, existence and historical function. The San Francisco University is not alone in this search of the integral formation of the man: it is a particular University and this has a history in Brazil. The proper idea of University holds diverse positions and interfaces of analysis. The orientações and explicitações of the educational process for the Church Catholic serve as parameters for the world-wide net of schools catholics (in its diverse levels). When displaying its mission, the San Francisco University is in tunning with its allegiance to its religious confessionalidade that professes and its option of evangelizar the young, not only offering the common resources of a University, but a Christian integral formation, or either, the message of evangelho incarnate in the social reality of its time and its function. At last, these are the diverse looks of the subject that we will focus in our reflection of the mission of the San Francisco University, reflection that will develop a movement as of the microscope with its focus, however narrow and well miniature, however more opened for sweepings analyses / Mestrado / Historia, Filosofia e Educação / Mestre em Educação
