Previous issue date: 1989 / Resumo: Esse trabalho é fruto de urna experiência da autora com o ensino de geometria nas quintas séries do 1º grau, a qual vem sendo aprimorada desde a realização de um mini-curso, originador das idéias aqui apresentadas. O interesse pelo ensino de geometria vem desde o período de graduação, onde teve os primeiros contatos com o "não-ensino" dessa matéria. Para elaborar as atividades que constam do presente trabalho, a autora não fez uso da única abordagem de ensino. Fundamentou-se em diversas estratégias, que se mostraram adequadas para o grupo de alunos envolvidos nas atividades. Ao abordar o ensino-aprendizagem de discriminação, classificação, denominação de figuras geométricas, a autora fez uso da estratégia de resolução de problemas, onde o aluno procurava a solução de acordo com seu nível de pensamento e necessidades para proceder à resolução. A autora descreve as atividades, as avaliações dos alunos e faz a análise das mesmas, levando em consideração as reações dos alunos frente a elas. Através da análise, verifica-se mais facilidade na aprendizagem de alguns conceitos em relação a outros e como os alunos os associam. Verifica-se também que esses alunos, embora ainda apresentem alguma dificuldade com a discriminação do nome das figuras tridimensionais, conseguiram assimilar, de modo significativo, a maioria dos conceitos. A autora pôde perceber a validade das estratégias realizadas nas atividades, por elas terem auxiliado no desenvolvimento global do aluno / Abstract: This work is the result of an experience concerning the teaching of geometry in the 5th grade (elementary school), and it has been improved since a "short course" was given by the author, which gave rise to the ideas presented here. Her interest in the teaching of geometry comes from her college days when she had the first contact with the "non-teaching" of geometry.To prepare the activities displayed in this work the author hasn't limited herself to only one teaching approach. _he relied on different strategies which proved to be appropriate to the group of students involved. When dealing with the teaching and learning of geometrical figures, regarding its discrimination, classification and denomination, she made use of the solving problems strategy, which led the student to find the solution according to his level of perception and his needs to come to a conclusion. The author describes the activities and the student¿s performances, which she analyses having in mind their reactions with relation to the results. This analysis makes clear the facility in the ¿learning of some concepts in relation to others and how the students associate them. It also demonstrates that, although these students have some difficulties with relation to the discrimination of the names of the tridimensional figures, they succeeded in learning most of the concepts _n a significative way. The author could feel the adequacy of the strategies used during the activities, because they were of great help in the development of the student as a whole / Mestrado / Mestre em Educação
