Previous issue date: 1995 / Resumo: Estudo analítico-descritivo sobre a formação de professores em cursos de Licenciatura oferecidos pela UNESP - Universidade Estadual Paulista, que têm o Bacharelado correspondentes na mesma unidade e sob os cuidados do mesmo Conselho de Curso. Foram consideradas as opiniões dos alunos licenciados em 1993, obtidas mediante a aplicação de um questionário de respostas abertas para verificar o processo de formação pelo qual passaram, as principais contribuições e deficiências dos cursos, as experiências vividas e a atuação dos professores. F oram também ouvidos os coordenadores dos Conselhos de Curso, bem como os professores das diferentes Licenciaturas indicados pelos alunos. Outras informações foram obtidas através de documentos e catálogos emanados da Pró-Reitoria de Graduação e dos Conselhos de Curso. Os dados foram analisados sob o ponto de vista qualitativo. Foram também estudadas a história das Licenciaturas no Brasil, a criação da UNESP e a contribuição dos eventos científicos que tratam da formação de professores no país. As principais conclusões sugerem que cada uma das Licenciaturas estudadas organiza-se individualmente e que a maioria prende-se ao Bacharelado e subestima a formação de professores. Ao lado das contribuições que os cursos oferecem à formação de professores, evidenciam-se as suas deficiências e sugerem-se modificações para a melhorias das Licenciaturas. Dada a natureza deste estudo, as conclusões não podem ser generalizadas, mas constituem referências para a compreensão de situações análogas / Abstract: This is a descritive and analytical study of teacher formation courses' with corresponding courses without said purpose offered by the State University of São Paulo (Universidade Estadual Paulista) at the same college and under the control of the same board. The opinions of the students who got teaching credencial in 1993, obtained by means of a questionnaire for open answers intended to show the formation process they went thought, the main contributions and shortcomings of their courses, their experiences and their teachers' performances, were considered. The coordinators of the Course Boards and the hteachers of the several teacher formation courses indicated by the students were inteviewed. Other information were collected from documents and catalogs issued by the Undergraduate Dean's Office and the Course Boards. The data were analyzed from the qualitative point of view. The history of the teacher formation courses in Brazil, the foundation of UNESP, and the contribution of scientific meetings dealing with teacher formation in this country were also studied. The main conclusions suggest that each of the studied courses leading to the degree of Licenciate organizes itself individually and that most of them are mainly concerned with the Bachelor's degree, underestimating teacher formation. Along with the contributions that such courses offer to the formation of teachers, their deficiencies are evinced, and suggestions for their improvement are presented.
