Previous issue date: 2002 / Resumo: O objetivo geral desta pesquisa é aprofundar a análise sobre a trajetória recente do sindicalismo na região do ABC. O estudo aproxima-se de uma "pesquisa-ação", em razão do grande envolvimento pessoal do pesquisador - como dirigente sindical na planta fabril da Volkswagen em São Bernardo do Campo - com o objeto de investigação Partindo de uma visão mais ampla sobre os efeitos da política econômica sobre o mercado de trabalho e a produção nacional, o trabalho analisa o percurso da ação sindical nesta região, no período 1980-2002. O objetivo específico é analisar o papel do sindicalismo na determinação das mudanças nas relações de trabalho que se refletiram numa ação sindical de cunho mais propositivo no contexto de crise econômica e reestruturação produtiva nos anos 90. Como parte deste objetivo o estudo destaca o desenvolvimento da organização nos locais de trabalho, como elemento central da estratégia organizativa dos Metalúrgicos do ABC, tomando como referência a experiência na Volkswagen. / Abstract: The main goal of this research is to deepen the analysis about the recent the trade unionist trajectory at the ABC Region. The study is closed to a "participant research" due to the large involvement of the researcher with the object of the investigation as unionist at São Bernardo Volkswagen's industrial plant. Based on the analysis of the effects of the Brasilian economic policy over the labor market and national production, the work studies the course of the union action at this Region from 1980 to 2002. The specific aim is to identifye the influence of the trade unionism on the changes of the industrial relations. At the ABC experience concerned changes reflected a more proposhive union action during the economic crisis and industrial restructuring that characterized the nineties. As part of this aim the study points out the development of the union organization at the work places, as a central fature of the organizative strategy of the ABC Metalworkers Union, taking as reference the experience at Volkswagen. / Mestrado
