Previous issue date: 2001-08-21 / This study involves the patients of a private clinic of Speech Therapy and Psychology, from S?o Paulo State, through analysis of 288 files from treated patients in 1998. The analysis is based on sex, age, position on family group, school level and client profession, and also parents school level and occupation. The research verifies the origin of the referral, type of evaluation, complaints, hypotheses, duration and treatment interruption. It uses the tests of Chi Square and Spearman Correlation Coefficient on the statistic analysis. Results show that in general there isn t any difference between sex but males are greater than females children. The majority school level is primary school. Most parents have college grade and occupations related with commerce/factory. The spontaneous search for the clinic is the most common. The main complaints showed to the Speech Therapy are related to oral and written language and the oral sensory motor system alterations. Complaints such as behavior and relationships are the most common in Psychology. There are significant relations between problems and hypotheses. The period of speech treatment is long and the average of given up is higher in Psychology. It is possible to conclude that the treatment can be considered efficient, but not interdisciplinary and that new strategies of interventions should be elaborated to make it faster the period of treatment. / Este estudo caracteriza a clientela de uma cl?nica particular de Fonoaudiologia e Psicologia, do interior de S?o Paulo, por meio da an?lise de 288 prontu?rios de clientes atendidos em 1998. Analisa sexo, idade, posi??o na constela??o familiar, escolaridade e profiss?o do cliente, al?m da escolaridade e profiss?o dos pais. Verifica origem do encaminhamento, tipo de avalia??o, queixas, hip?teses, dura??o e interrup??o do tratamento. Utiliza os testes qui-quadrado e correla??o de Spearman na an?lise estat?stica. Os resultados mostram que, no geral, n?o h? diferen?a significante entre os sexos, mas o sexo masculino ? maioria entre as crian?as. O grau de escolaridade predominante ? o fundamental. Pais t?m, na maioria, n?vel superior e profiss?es relacionadas ao com?rcio/ind?stria. A procura espont?nea pelos servi?os prevalece. As principais queixas fonoaudiol?gicas s?o relativas ? linguagem oral, escrita e motricidade oral. Queixa de problemas de comportamento e relacionamento s?o as principais na ?rea de Psicologia. H? correla??o significante entre queixas e hip?teses. A dura??o do tratamento fonoaudiol?gico ? longa e o ?ndice de abandono ? maior em Psicologia. Conclui que o atendimento parece adequado, mas n?o ? interdisciplinar e que novas estrat?gias de interven??o, visando agilizar o tempo de atendimento, devem ser elaboradas.
