Previous issue date: 2017-06-14 / Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie / Literature, as a typical phenomenon of the sphere of the imponderable, of the artistic, is more often seen as a possible alternative of dialogue between the individual and his immediate reality, understanding in the role of the individual both the figure of the author and the reader, through a relationship sometimes guided by interpretation, contestation, reconfiguration, re-creation or even as a strategy of sublimation - often the only possible way of being in the world - to stand in the face of a daily life so contrary to the vital force, the organic nature of any living being, perhaps of human nature - mechanisms of escapism of oppressive and dehumanizing experiences, a weapon more than powerful and efficient of combat. It was in this day and age that Agostinho de Hipona and José Saramago discovered the raw material to compose their writings. This work intends to investigate how authors who are so far apart, have become forceful interpreters of their realities, translators and voices of such particularities, approaching their texts through the study of the dialogical nature that guides their discourses, to understand the intertwining of texts, the overlapping of ideologies, the contribution of the religious philosophical discourse of the fifth century to the literary discourse of contemporaneity. To investigate the movement of approach, overlapping and detachment that transits between the high tone of the soliloquy, a dialogical gender by nature, which is configured as the interiorized voice of the individual in confessional posture present in the work Confissões, to the tone of the burlesque dialogue between Caim and Deus, to the humorous saying, the "Socratic irony" that produces the carnival laughter so scathing that it is present in the parody novel Caim.
The purpose here is to rescue, in the contemporary Portuguese novel, Caim, by José Saramago, the transfiguration of the menipéia satire, comic-serious genre of Classical Antiquity, also present in the confessional autobiographical text of Agostinho de Hipona, Confissões, as a phenomenon of dialogic intersection, from the study on Bakhtinian interdiscursivity. As a theoretical basis of support, the Bakhtinian concepts present in Problemas da Poética de Dostoievski and Questões de Literatura e de Estética – A Teoria do Romance, among other texts also written by the Russian linguist, as well as the voices of Other specialists, as translators and interpreters of the theoretical legacy of Mikhail Bakhtin, to compose the theoretical support on which this research is based. / A literatura, como fenômeno típico da esfera do imponderável, do artístico, configura-se, mais das vezes, como uma alternativa possível de diálogo entre o indivíduo e sua realidade imediata, compreendendo-se no papel de indivíduo tanto a figura do autor como do leitor, por meio de uma relação ora pautada pela interpretação, contestação, reconfiguração, recriação ou até mesmo como estratégia de sublimação – muitas vezes única via possível de se estar no mundo – posicionar-se diante de um cotidiano tão contrário à força vital, à organicidade de qualquer ser vivo, quiçá da natureza humana – mecanismos de escapismos de experiências opressoras e desumanizadoras, arma mais que poderosa e eficiente de combate. Foi neste dia-a-dia que Agostinho de Hipona e José Saramago descobriram a matéria prima para compor suas escritas.
Este trabalho propõe-se a investigar de que forma autores tão distanciados entre si, tornaram-se intérpretes contundentes de suas realidades, tradutores e vozes de mundividências tão particulares, aproximando seus textos por meio do estudo da natureza dialógica que orienta seus discursos, para compreender o entretecer-se dos enunciados, o entrecruzamento dos textos, a imbricação das ideologias, a contribuição do discurso filosófico religioso do século V ao discurso literário da contemporaneidade. Investigar o movimento de aproximação, sobreposição e distanciamento, que transita entre o tom elevado do solilóquio, gênero dialógico por natureza, que se configura como voz interiorizada do indivíduo em postura confessional presente no texto Confissões, ao tom baixo do diálogo burlesco entre Caim e Deus, ao dito chistoso, à “ironia socrática” que produz o riso carnavalesco tão mordaz que se faz presente no romance paródico Caim.
O objetivo aqui é resgatar, no romance português contemporâneo, Caim, de José Saramago, a transfiguração da sátira menipéia, gênero cômico-sério da Antiguidade Clássica, também presente no texto autobiográfico confessional de Agostinho de Hipona, Confissões, como fenômeno de intersecção dialógica, a partir do estudo sobre a interdiscursividade bakhtiniana. Como embasamento teórico de apoio, aplicaram-se, principalmente, os conceitos bakhtinianos presentes em Problemas da Poética de Dostoievski e Questões de Literatura e de Estética – A Teoria do Romance, dentre outros textos também de autoria do linguista russo, assim como as vozes de outros especialistas, na condição de tradutores e intérpretes do legado teórico de Mikhail Bakhtin, para compor o aporte teórico em que se sustenta esta investigação.
