Previous issue date: 2017-09-28 / This work analyzes the humorous discourse in the eight editions of the humor magazine Pif
Paf - produced by the cartoonist Millôr Fernandes in the year 1964 - as objects which were
part of a discourse of the period as well as produced and still produces discourses on issues
involving the Military Dictatorship concepts such as democracy, freedom of expression and
authoritarianism. The dissertation also seeks to show aspects of a political culture in which
Millôr and the other contributors of the magazine were inserted which relate not only to the
institutions and attitudes of the Military Dictatorship but also to behavioral issues and the
conscious differentiation of the magazine against hegemonic press. / Este trabalho analisa o discurso humorístico nas oito edições da revista de humor Pif Paf,
produzida pelo cartunista Millôr Fernandes no ano de 1964, como objetos que fizeram parte
de um discurso da época, assim como produziram e ainda produzem discursos sobre questões
envolvendo a Ditadura Militar, conceitos como o de democracia, liberdade de expressão e
autoritarismo. A dissertação busca também salientar aspectos de uma cultura política, na qual
Millôr e os demais contribuintes do periódico estavam inseridos, que se relacionam não
somente com as instituições e atitudes da Ditadura Militar, mas também com questões
comportamentais e a diferenciação consciente da revista frente a imprensa hegemônica.
