Previous issue date: 2011-12-20 / The concern about the life quality of the worker who works in the health area has been
highlighted by many programs of the Health Ministry. The Programa Humaniza SUS
(Sistema ?nico de Sa?de) has been developed since 2003 and one of its goal is to support the
teams which work in the Health Units in some moments of crisis. From the development of
some programs of the Federal Government it is necessary to understand not only the demands
of the patients but also to aid the work s team in order to create conditions which promotes
the life quality of the professionals in which the caring issue has its aim in the labor practice.
Among the different sectors of a hospital, the unit which that critically ill patients are
hospitalized who needs the use of technology and who are about to die due to poor clinical
condition of these patients is the Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU). This essay intended to
explore the emotional condition employed into labor of nursing technicians who work at ITU
and are caregivers in their labor daily routine. In order to do that, two sections were written
about this topic: a theoretical and an empirical one. On the theoretical part, it is proposed the
specificities concerning the issue of taking care of someone, putting as priority the
helplessness human condition which is increased facing some illness situation. In order to
understand the psychic dynamic which is inherent in this condition, it is going to be used the
psychoanalytical theory. The empirical section is going to be done through a qualitative
methodology which is useful to investigate some particular aspects of nursing technicians
experiences in the role of caregivers as health professionals in ITU environment. Some
interviews where done which aimed to explore the life history, the motivation of choosing this
profession, the aspects that facilitated and also those that complicated in their labor daily
routine, as well as the effects that environment and profession have on their intrapsychic field
and in the relationship intersubjective between caregiver and their patients. The outcomes of
this study were analyzed and discussed through the Analysis of Content. Three categories
were identified: Identificatory specificities of caregivers; Effects in the intrapsychic and
intersubjective field; Revealing the care action- listening the caregiver. Thus, it was possible
to think about the depth concerning the psychic phenomena involved in the task of taking care
of someone. Psychoanalysis offered a great contribution to explore and to discuss about the
complexity of the factors which are involved in the action of taking care of someone, as well
as to think about the exigencies of psychic effort on those emotional demands of the ITU
environment / A preocupa??o com a qualidade de vida do trabalhador que atua na ?rea da sa?de vem sendo colocada em evid?ncia por diversos programas do Minist?rio da Sa?de. O Programa Humaniza SUS (Sistema ?nico de Sa?de) est? sendo desenvolvido desde 2003 e tem como um de seus objetivos apoiar as equipes que trabalham nas Unidades de Sa?de em momentos de crise. A partir do desenvolvimento de programas do governo federal evidencia-se a necessidade de compreender n?o s? as demandas pr?prias dos pacientes, mas tamb?m de auxiliar a equipe de trabalho no sentido de criar condi??es que promovam a qualidade de vida dos profissionais que t?m no exerc?cio do cuidado o cerne de sua pr?tica laboral. Dentre os diferentes setores de um hospital, a unidade na qual s?o internados os pacientes graves, que necessitam de utiliza??o de tecnologia e que se encontram em iminente risco de morte devido ? precariedade da condi??o cl?nica desses pacientes, est? a Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI) ou Centro de Tratamento Intensivo (CTI). Este estudo pretendeu explorar as condi??es emocionais implicadas no exerc?cio laboral de t?cnicos de enfermagem que atuam em ambiente de UTI e dedicam-se a exercer fun??es de cuidado como pr?tica de sua rotina profissional. Para tanto, foram elaboradas duas se??es acerca dessa tem?tica: uma te?rica e outra emp?rica. Na se??o te?rica prop?e-se uma leitura sobre as especificidades envolvidas no exerc?cio do cuidado, priorizando-se aspectos referentes ? condi??o humana de desamparo incrementada frente ? ocorr?ncia do adoecimento. Para explorar a din?mica ps?quica que se faz presente nessa condi??o, utilizaram-se os aportes da Psican?lise. A se??o emp?rica que tamb?m comp?em este estudo, mediante a utiliza??o de uma metodologia qualitativa, investiga peculiaridades da experi?ncia de t?cnicos de enfermagem no trabalho como profissionais da sa?de no ambiente de UTI. Foram realizadas entrevistas semidirigidas, nas quais se buscou explorar a hist?ria de vida, as motiva??es da escolha profissional, os aspectos que facilitam e os que dificultam a pr?tica di?ria, bem como os efeitos que o ambiente e a profiss?o t?m no campo intraps?quico e nas rela??es intersubjetivas estabelecidas entre o cuidador e os pacientes. Os achados, neste estudo, foram analisados e discutidos por meio da An?lise de Conte?do. Identificaram-se tr?s categorias finais denominadas: Especificidades identificat?rias do sujeito cuidador; Efeitos no campo intraps?quico e intersubjetivo do cuidador; Desvelando o cuidar a escuta ao cuidador. Dessa forma, foi poss?vel refletir em profundidade a respeito dos fen?menos ps?quicos envolvidos na tarefa de cuidar. A Psican?lise ofereceu uma valorosa contribui??o para explorar e problematizar a complexidade dos fatores envolvidos na a??o do cuidado, bem como para realizar uma reflex?o sobre a exig?ncia de trabalho ps?quico imposta frente ?s demandas emocionais pr?prias do cen?rio de uma UTI.
