Taking into consideration that the concepts of environment are changing, it is necessary to take a new look at the issue of the use of pesticides, based on multiple socio-environmental and cultural contexts. The present study tried to examine the different instances of pesticide use, from the acquisition of the product, up through the handling in rural work. The research was conducted by means of free interviews with subjects chosen in an intentional manner. The subjects were: the proprietor, the administrator and/or the farm employee and the proprietor of the agricultural retail outlet. The results demonstrated that the critical awareness differs among the interviewees which is a common theme that is difficult to address with regards to practical actions and what is officially recommended. It can be noted that it is still not possible to comply with the requirements of law no. 7.802. This fact reveals the need for more control, supervision and for an educational program for the participants in rural work. / Considerando que as concepções de ambientes vêm se modificando, faz-se necessário um novo olhar para a problemática do uso de agrotóxico, baseado na multiplicidade dos contextos socioambientais e culturais. O estudo buscou conhecer os diferentes momentos da utilização dos agrotóxicos, desde a aquisição do produto até o manuseio no trabalho rural. A pesquisa foi realizada por meio de entrevista livre, com sujeitos escolhidos de forma intencional. Os sujeitos foram: o proprietário, o administrador e/ou empregado da fazenda e o proprietário da revenda de insumos agrícolas. Os resultados demonstraram que a consciência crítica difere entre os entrevistados tratando-se de um tema abrangente e de difícil abordagem em relação às ações práticas, o que é recomendado oficialmente. Nota-se que ainda não é possível atender as exigências vigentes na Lei no 7.802. Este fato revela a necessidade maior de maior fiscalização, supervisão e de um programa educativo com os atores envolvidos no trabalho rural.
