O estudo investiga a internação psiquiátrica hospitalar. Busca compreender o significado atribuído pelos clientes ao fato de necessitarem internar em uma instituição hospitalar. Constitui-se em um estudo qualitativo, com uma abordagem fenomenológica, que tem a entrevista semi-estruturada como instrumento de coleta de dados. Para a interpretação utiliza a hermenêutica de Paul Ricoeur e uma leitura na perspectiva existencialista de Heidegger. O estudo se desenvolveu em uma unidade psiquiátrica de um hospital universitário e teve como sujeitos da pesquisa seis clientes, quatro mulheres e dois homens, internados em tratamento psiquiátrico hospitalar. Considerando existencialmente o significado da internação psiquiátrica hospitalar, desvela-se o que se dá nesse mundo estruturado, com regras próprias, onde o cliente é inserido, trazendo consigo vivências e experiências de seu mundo. Os temas que emergiram dos discursos dos sujeitos foram: o mundo vivido da internação psiquiátrica hospitalar, com os subtemas sentimentos e problemas e razões que levam à internação; aprendendo com a internação, com os subtemas o homem como um ser de cuidado, ambiente do cuidar e estar-com a equipe; o presente projetando-se no futuro, com os subtemas família, possibilidades de realização, e expectativas e projetos. Desvelando os significados da internação psiquiátrica hospitalar se oferecem possibilidades para que se possa continuar construindo conhecimento dentro da enfermagem, no sentido da valorização do cuidado humanizado. Esta é a compreensão que o estudo apresenta sobre o significado da internação psiquiátrica hospital para o cliente, na perspectiva existencialista de Heidegger. / The study investigates the in-patient psychiatric treatment. It tries to understand the meaning given by the clients to the fact that they need to be in a hospital institutuion. It is a qualitative study, with a phenomenological approach, which used semi-estructured interviews as a mean to collect data. To interpret it, Paul Ricouer' s hermeneutics is used as well as deep reading based on Heidegger' s existentialist perspective. The study was developed on a psychiatric unit of a University Hospital and had as research subjects six clients, four women and two men, who were admitted for psychiatric treatment. Considering the meaning of a psychiatric hospital admission in an existentially way, it is unveiled what happens in this structured world, where the client is put in, bringing with him/her lived things and experiences of his/hers world. The themes that emerged from the subjects speeches were: the lived world oj lhe p5ychiatric hospital admission, with the subthemes feelings and problems and reasons that led to admíssion; learníng wíth the admíssion, with the subthemes man as a being oj care, care enviroment and bewith the team; the present projecting into the future, with the subthemes jamily, possibilities oj realization and expectations and projects. To unveil the meanings psychiatric hospital admission gives possibilities to continue contructing knowledge in Nursing, in a way to value humanized care. This is the comprehension that the study presents on the meaning of psychiatric hospital admission to the client, on Heidegger' s existentialist perspective.
