Previous issue date: 2016 / The hystory of the behaviour of water flowing through orifices has been very useful to
describe function and design of important hydraulic structures, like reservoirs and Water
Treatment Plants. This work presents the development of a hydraulic model that allows
determination of two hydraulic parameters essential to dimensioning plate flocculators: the
discharge coefficient (Cd) and the relation
.. As a result of this research, it was possible to
present an equation that correlates the Reynolds number (between 4000 and 18000) with the
discharge coefficient, this equation is still unpublished in today’s literature. Another
important point found was that the population average of Cd in many hydraulic conditions was
0.758, different of what had been previously published (0.61) and close to the value published
at the current literature. It was also found a correlation and an equation correlating the
parameter with the Reynolds number. The range of Reynolds numbers in this new method
matches partially the range obtained by the only model currently existing Di Bernardo and
Giorgetti (1980, p. 528– 533). The differences between the values of
obtained by both
models result in a significant difference between the range of the jets and, consequently, the
dimensioning of the flocculator. Finally, it were used the models developed to dimension a
plates flocculator composed of three chambers, with 100 m³.h-1 of capacity, integrant part of a
flocs-flotation system. / O estudo do comportamento do escoamento de água através de orifícios tem sido muito
útil para a descrição do funcionamento e projeto de importantes estruturas hidráulicas,
como reservatórios e Estações de Tratamento de Água (ETAs). Este trabalho apresenta o
desenvolvimento de um modelo hidráulico que possibilita a determinação de dois
parâmetros hidráulicos essenciais para o dimensionamento de floculadores de placas: o
coeficiente de descarga (Cd) e a relação
. Como resultado desta pesquisa foi possível
apresentar uma equação que correlaciona o número de Reynolds (entre 4.000 e 18.000)
com o Cd, equação está ainda inédita na literatura atual. Outro ponto importante
encontrado foi que a média populacional de Cd em diversas condições hidráulicas foi de
0,758, contrário ao divulgado pela literatura anterior (0,61) e próxima do valor divulgado
na literatura mais atual. Encontrou-se também uma correlação e uma equação
correlacionando o parâmetro
com número de Reynolds. A faixa de número de Reynolds
utilizada neste novo modelo coincide em parte com a faixa trabalhada pelo único modelo
até agora existente Di Bernardo & Giorgetti (1980, p. 528– 533). As diferenças entre os
valores de
obtidos por ambos os modelos, resultam numa significativa diferença entre os
valores do alcance dos jatos, e consequentemente do dimensionamento do floculador.
Finalmente, utilizou-se os modelos desenvolvidos no dimensionamento de um floculador
de placas composto de três câmaras, com capacidade de 100 m³.h-1, parte integrante de um
sistema de floco-flotação.
