Previous issue date: 2013 / The goal of this dissertation is to analyze consumption, body building and the identity of individuals who identify with a gay identity. To this end, we conducted an ethnographic research and sought input on the theoretical perspective taken by some authors as a reference in the themes addressed. We also carried out an analysis of some academic papers and journalistic in order to sustain the discussions held during the course of the chapters. The notion of"gaycidade" perceived as a social experience that is different from calling homosexuality was selected as an analytical category. As a reflection on the existence of gays circuits, consumption spaces and sociability that allowed the emergence of numerous representations in relation to gay identity, for example, here called manly or gay distinguished men. / O objetivo desta dissertação é analisar o consumo, a construção do corpo e a identidade de indivíduos que adotam ou se identificam com a identidade gay. Para isto, foi realizada uma pesquisa etnográfica e se buscou o aporte na perspectiva teórica de alguns autores tidos como referência nas temáticas abordadas. Foi realizada também a análise de alguns trabalhos acadêmicos e jornalísticos com o objetivo de sustentar as discussões desenvolvidas no decorrer dos capítulos. A noção de “gaycidade”, percebida como uma experiência social que se difere da chamada homossexualidade foi selecionada como categoria analítica. Assim como a reflexão sobre a existência dos circuitos gays, entendidos como espaços de consumo e sociabilidade que permitiram o surgimento de inúmeras representações em relação à identidade gay, como, por exemplo, os aqui chamados gays viris ou homens distintos.
