Previous issue date: 2009 / The purpose of this study was to evaluate the technical and scale efficiency of Perdigão S/A and integrated producers of chicken in the agribusiness area. A secondary object of study was identifying the inefficient management factors that limit the expansion of activity in the industrial units, pinpointing the main factors that explain the difference in production efficiency between the industrial units and integrated producers of chicken. Through the use of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method, assuming constant returns and input oriented scale variation, the study determined the technical efficiency, benchmark, amount of contribution by each unit of reference in composing the target, input projections, scale efficiency and comparison between technical indicators of the company and the technical efficiency results obtained in the study. The results show evidence of the ideal balance of factors (minimizing the input) of the company and integrated producers of chicken, for the maximization of the productivity. / Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a eficiência técnica e de escala da agroindústria Perdigão S/A e seus produtores integrados de frango. Também foi objeto secundário identificar as unidades industriais que possuem ineficiência na gestão dos fatores que limitam a expansão da atividade, identificando os principais fatores que explicam as diferenças de eficiência da produção entre as unidades industriais e seus produtores integrados de frango. Através do método Data Envolopment Analysis (DEA) pressupondo retornos constantes e variáveis à escala com orientação ao insumo, o estudo determinou a eficiência técnica, unidades de referência (benchmark), intensidade da contribuição de cada unidade de referência na formação do alvo, projeções para inputs, eficiência de escala e comparação de indicadores técnicos da empresa com os resultados de eficiência técnica obtidos no estudo. Os resultados evidenciam o arranjo ideal dos fatores (minimização dos insumos) por agroindústria e seus produtores integrados de frango, para a maximização da produtividade.
