Previous issue date: 2011 / This dissertation aims to analyze the approach of this plane geometry in math books approved and distributed by National Book Program for Education (PNLD) in 2009. Currently, the textbook still represents an important tool in the teaching and learning, both for the teacher, and for the student and therefore must be critically examined for their qualification. The question investigated in this research is: What is the contribution of the approach plane geometry on the books distributed by PNLD 2009 for the development of geometric thinking in students? To support research, the history textbooks in Brazil and PNLD, and the van Hiele theory on the development of geometric thought, were considered. Indicators for the analysis of the books were set based on this theory. We analyzed the three most collections chosen by teachers. The analysis of these books shows a non-homogeneous distribution of examples that contribute to the objectives at each level of van Hiele theory, with few activities that contribute to the development of the last level of geometric thinking. Furthermore, we found great discrepancies in the number of examples presented in each book. / Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar a abordagem da geometria plana presente nos livros de Matemática aprovados e distribuídos pelo Programa Nacional do Livro para o Ensino Médio (PNLD) em 2009. Atualmente, o livro didático ainda representa importante instrumento no processo de ensino e aprendizagem, tanto para o professor, quanto para o aluno e, por isso, deve ser criticamente analisado para a sua qualificação. A questão investigada na pesquisa é: Qual a contribuição da abordagem da geometria plana presente nos livros distribuídos pelo PNLD 2009 para o desenvolvimento do pensamento geométrico dos alunos? Para fundamentar a pesquisa, o histórico do livro didático no Brasil e do PNLD, e a teoria de van Hiele sobre o desenvolvimento do pensamento geométrico, foram considerados. Indicadores para a análise dos livros foram definidos com base nessa teoria. Foram analisadas as três coleções mais escolhidas pelos professores. A análise desses livros mostra uma distribuição não homogênea de exemplos que contribuem para os objetivos em cada nível da teoria van Hiele, sendo poucas as atividades que contribuem para o desenvolvimento do último nível do pensamento geométrico. Além disso, foi encontrada discrepância na quantidade de exemplos significativos para o desenvolvimento do pensamento geométrico, apresentados em cada livro.
