Previous issue date: 2005 / This dissertation presents a research carried out with Mathematics students of sixth grade, in a private school at the city of Lajeado, RS, aiming to investigate the application of mathematical concepts in activities that associate Mathematics and Art. The research has a qualitative approach, with questionnaires applied to the students, observations of the developed activities and interviews carried out with Mathematics teachers. The students appeared to be favorable to the work with such activities, showing that this work allows the professor to know students´rhythm, abilities and competences. The teachers interviewed had considered that it is possible to work Mathematics associated to Art, in activities that involve drawing, measures and ideas of Geometry, as well as those that enable students to construct their own materials. For the data obtained from the research´ instruments, one concludes that the relationship between Mathematics and Art motivates the students to the work with the underlying mathematical concepts. To link Mathematics and Art is a way to show the students the view of Mathematics as a work constructed by human spirit, with balance, harmony, beauty and delicateness in details. / Esta dissertação apresenta uma pesquisa realizada com alunos de Matemática, de sexta série, em uma escola particular da cidade de Lajeado, RS. O trabalho tem como objetivo investigar a aplicação de conceitos matemáticos em atividades que associam Matemática e Arte. A pesquisa tem uma abordagem qualitativa, a partir de questionários aplicados aos alunos, observações das atividades desenvolvidas e entrevistas realizadas com professores de Matemática. Os alunos se manifestaram favoráveis ao trabalho com tais atividades, mostrando que essas propiciam ao professor conhecer o ritmo próprio do educando, habilidades e competências. Os professores entrevistados consideraram que existe a possibilidade de trabalhar Matemática associada à Arte, em atividades que envolvem desenho, medidas e noções de Geometria, bem como as que oportunizam, ao aluno, construir o seu próprio material. Pelos dados obtidos por meio dos instrumentos de pesquisa utilizados, conclui-se que a relação entre Matemática e Arte motiva os estudantes para o trabalho com os conceitos matemáticos subjacentes às atividades. Vincular Matemática e a Arte constitui-se em uma maneira de levar o educando a ver a Matemática como uma obra construída pelo espírito humano, com equilíbrio, harmonia, beleza e delicadeza nos detalhes.
