Previous issue date: 2011 / The research laboratories in the universities are places with many activities including teaching, research and technical services. However, not always the organization management processes and the satisfactory integration of strategies, mission, vision, staff and activities of knowledge are systematically checked out. This study proposes the implementation of quality management in universities laboratories for research, having as a goal to assist in evaluating and improving their processes and serving as a reference in the management of research laboratories. Therefore, the study proposes the implantation of quality tools such as 5S Program, having GLP-Good Laboratory Practice and the standards ABNT NBR ISO 9001: 2008 and ABNT NBR ISO/IEC 17025: 2005, as a reference to this work. The main results were the organization and optimization of activities developed in the laboratory in pursuit of excellence in the training of researchers and the introduction of the idea of quality in the University environment. / Os laboratórios de pesquisa das universidades são locais com muitas atividades, dentre elas, o ensino, a pesquisa e prestação de serviços técnicos. Porém, nem sempre é verificada a organização sistemática de seus processos de gestão e a integração satisfatória de estratégias, missão, visão, pessoal e atividades do conhecimento. Este estudo propõe a implantação da gestão da qualidade em laboratórios de pesquisa em universidades, tendo, como objetivo, auxiliar na avaliação e melhoria de seus processos e servir como referência na gestão de laboratórios de pesquisa. Para tanto, o estudo da implantação de ferramentas da qualidade, como o Programa 5S e tendo a BPL – Boas Práticas de Laboratório, as Normas ABNT NBR ISO 9001:2008 e ABNT NBR ISO/IEC 17025:2005, como referência, orientam esse trabalho. Os principais resultados obtidos foram a organização e a otimização das atividades desenvolvidas no laboratório em busca da excelência na formação de pesquisadores e a introdução da cultura da qualidade no ambiente universitário.
