Previous issue date: 2011 / This paper work has sought to analyze, at the historical standpoint, the High School´s education system of the Terena community of Limão Verde village, located in Aquidauana city of Mato Grosso do Sul Brazilian State, trying to understand its actions regarding the need for school education to a population ethnically differentiated. It starts with the analysis of ethnographic texts that narrate behavior and actions of Terena and the policies implemented in this community, especially in the subject of school education, supported by the field research, ethnographic observation and analysis of official documents. It shows the trajectory Terena, as a people, where the idea that It had been cultural changes throughout its history, the assimilation of values that are around this, it has managed to maintain the ethos that identifies them as Terena. It also shows the challenge of building the Terena indigenous education, based on the People´s trajectory, the struggle for rehabilitation and defense of their traditional territory, its current relations with the environment, highlighting the project for the future of youth. / Este trabalho procura analisar do ponto de vista histórico a Escola Indígena de Ensino Médio na comunidade Terena da aldeia Limão Verde, localizada no município de Aquidauana/MS, buscando compreender sua atuação frente à necessidade de formação escolar a uma população etnicamente diferenciada. Ele parte da análise de textos etnográficos que narram comportamento e ações dos Terena, bem como as políticas implantadas nessa comunidade, sobretudo, no campo da educação escolar, apoiado na Pesquisa de Campo, observação etnográfica e análise de documentos oficiais. Mostra a trajetória Terena, como um povo que, onde valha a idéia de ter havido mudanças culturais ao longo de sua história, na assimilação dos valores que estão em torno deste, têm conseguido manter o ethos que o identifica como Terena. Aponta o desafio de construir a educação escolar indígena Terena, apoiado na trajetória desse Povo, na luta pela recuperação e defesa do território tradicional, suas relações atuais com o entorno, destacando o projeto de futuro da juventude.
