Previous issue date: 2009 / This present research tries to recognize the specificities of travel literature, highliting the similarities between this narratives in the young-adult literature, wich were written in different historical periods. This investigation establishes the existence of an ideal route to the main characters have their trip. In theory, Bakhtin made up a historical typology of the novel based in structural principles of the main hero image. The travel literature is one of the theoretical typology described, being distinguished by the hero, who moves himself in the space to make the writer show the world diversity. Nowadays, some studies about the theme indicate a deeper approach, which is considered, also, the main character trajectory. This research, in order to emphasize the traveler, searches in Campbell, Muller and Pearsons studies the assumptions to analyze the hero trajectory Through the descriptive and aplicative methodology, this study analyzes literary works that are considered meaningful, as much related to the story theme as the historical written period. To study Young-adult travel literature we have to consider the possibility to improve the young-adult literature status and recognize the special needs and particularities of a teenager reader. This study intends to contribute to the Theories of Critical Literature by increasing the comprehension and valorization of the literary texts addressed to Young Readers. / O estudo busca reconhecer as especificidades da narrativa de viagem, assinalando semelhanças entre tais narrativas na literatura juvenil, escritas em diferentes períodos históricos. Para isso, avalia-se a presença de um percurso padrão do deslocamento dos protagonistas que empreendem a viagem. No que se refere aos aspectos teóricos, Bakhtin criou uma tipologia histórica do romance fundamentada nos princípios estruturais da imagem do herói principal. O romance de viagem é um dos tipos classificados pelo teórico, sendo caracterizado pelo herói que se move no espaço para que o romancista possa mostrar a diversidade do mundo. Estudos contemporâneos sobre o tema apontam para uma abordagem mais ampla, na qual é considerada também a trajetória do protagonista. A presente pesquisa, ao enfatizar o sujeito da viagem, busca nos estudos de Campbell, Müller e Pearson os pressupostos para analisar a trajetória do herói. Através da metodologia descritiva e aplicada, o estudo analisa obras consideradas significativas tanto em relação ao tema, como ao período histórico em que foram escritas. Estudar as narrativas de viagem constitui-se numa possibilidade de elevar o status da literatura juvenil e reconhecer as especificidades do leitor adolescente. O estudo pretende contribuir com as Teorias Críticas da Literatura, ampliando a compreensão e a valorização do texto literário destinado ao leitor jovem.
