Previous issue date: 2011 / The aim of this study was to verify behavioral changes in 24 patients (between 6- 16 years and 11 months) before, one, two, and four months after the beginning of Methylphenidate (MFD) treatment as part of a study that evaluates the efficacy and safety of ADHD treatment of epileptic and activity epileptic seizures children and adolescents. Data were obtained through parents information using the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL/6-18) to detect behavior problems. At the end of the treatment there was a significant reduction of scores on the three global scales: Behavior problems total scale, internalizing scale and externalizing scale (p<0. 001). The results obtained through parents perception showed that 80% had an improvement of ADHD symptoms. There was no significant difference on Total Competence Scale (p<O. 291), with a mean within clinical profile on the four evaluation periods. / Como parte de um estudo que avalia a eficácia e a segurança do tratamento do TDAH em crianças e adolescentes com epilepsia e crises epilépticas em atividade, nosso objetivo foi verificar as mudanças comportamentais em 24 pacientes (entre 6 e 16 anos e 11 meses) antes, um mês, dois meses e quatro meses após o início do uso do metilfenidato (MFD). Os dados foram obtidos através de informações dos pais, com Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL/6-18) utilizado para detectar problemas de comportamento. Ao final do tratamento, houve redução significativa dos escores nas três escalas globais, Escala Total de Problemas Comportamentais, Escala de Internalização e escala de Externalização (P<0,001). Os resultados obtidos através dos pais mostraram que 80% do grupo apresentou alguma melhora nos sintomas de TDAH. Não houve mudança significativa na Escala de Competência Total (p<0,291), com média dentro do clínico nos 4 momentos de avaliação.
