Previous issue date: 2011 / This dissertation is the result of the interest in questioning the sexual binary based on the biological determinism that defines that a person is born a boy/man or a girl/woman, having in these two poles opposing universes which are excluding in relation to each other. Besides this, since childhood, manners of carrying out masculinity and femininity are taught, based in sexist and patriarchal social constructions according to sex and its corresponding gender. Our research had as focus the study of the theories of feminist gender, in a post-structuralist obliquity of analysis. For this, in an option of focusing our questions in childhood, an analysis of ten children’s books which were awarded in the last decade by the Fundação Nacional do Livro Infantil e Juvenil (FNLIJ) was proposed, with the objective of understanding the gender issues which are demonstrated in these books and how/if they contribute to the maintenance of the stereotypes of gender and subsequent attitudes of submission by women in relation to the male domination. Through the performance of Discourse Analysis of the texts of these books and Semiotic Analysis of Still Images of the Illustrations in them, it was perceived that the traditional gender stereotypes are still strongly present, exposing the female figure associated to maternity, to wedding, to male dependence and circulating in private environments, while the male figures are characterized by activities, by bravery, by courage and by virility, having free will to express themselves in public sceneries. It was also observed that the discourses that break these stereotypes appear in a reduced way and sometimes succumb to a traditionally stereotyped end concerning gender issues. / Esta dissertação é fruto do interesse em problematizar o binarismo sexual baseado no determinismo biológico que define que ou se nasce menina/mulher, ou menino/homem, tendo, nesses dois pólos, universos antagônicos e excludentes um em relação ao outro. Além disso, desde a infância, são ensinados modos de exercer as ditas masculinidades e feminilidades, baseando-se em construções sociais sexistas e patriarcais de acordo com o sexo e o seu gênero correspondente. Nossa pesquisa tem como enfoque o estudo das teorias de gênero feministas, num viés pós-estruturalista de análise. Para isso, optando por focar nossas problematizações na infância, propusemos uma análise de dez livros infantis premiados na última década pela Fundação Nacional do Livro Infantil e Juvenil (FNLIJ), objetivando compreender como as questões de gênero são mostradas nessas obras e se/como contribuem para a manutenção dos estereótipos de gênero e posteriores atitudes de submissão das mulheres em relação à dominação masculina. Através da realização da Análise de Discurso dos textos desses livros e da Análise Semiótica de Imagens Paradas das ilustrações existentes neles, percebemos que os estereótipos de gênero tradicionais ainda estão muito presentes, expondo a figura feminina associada à maternidade, ao casamento, à dependência masculina e circulando nos ambientes privados, enquanto as figuras masculinas são caracterizadas pela atividade, pela valentia, pela coragem e pela virilidade, tendo livre-arbítrio para manifestarem-se nos cenários públicos. Observamos, também, que os discursos que quebram esses estereótipos aparecem de forma reduzida e, algumas vezes, sucumbem a um final tradicionalmente estereotipado, segundo as questões de gênero.
