Este trabalho tem como objetivo levantar quais eram as principais ideias e valores da cultura política nacional divulgadas pelo jornal A Noite durante os meses que antecederam as eleições de 1962, e em que medida eles refletiam os interesses do grupo representado pela agência de publicidade Incrementadora de Vendas Promotion. Em 1962, A Noite foi acusado de receber dinheiro para seguir a linha política do Instituto Brasileiro de Ação Democrática (Ibad). Nesse trabalho discute-se a abordagem dada pelo periódico ao governo João Goulart e seus aliados, que frequentemente foram alvo de críticas. Por meio da leitura detalhada dos editoriais, notícias e matérias publicados pelo jornal tenta-se estabelecer se houve ou não uma intensificação na oposição política do jornal ao governo federal, e que tipo de valores políticos era mais comum, dentro e fora do período eleitoral. / This paper aims to investigate which ideas and values of the national political culture were published by the newspaper A Noite during the months before the 1962s elections. This research also aims to discover how this ideas reflected the interests of the group represented by the advertising agency Incrementadora de Vendas Promotion. In 1962, A Noite was accused of receiving money to follow the political line of the Brazilian Democratic Action Institute (Ibad). In this paper, we discuss the approach taken by the journal about João Goularts government and its allies, who were often criticized. Through close reading of editorials, news and other texts published by the newspaper, this work tries to establish whether there was an intensification of the political opposition to the federal government in the newspaper, and what kind of political values were more common inside and outside the election period.
