Juvenilinės idiopatinės skoliozės galimos vystymosi priežastys ir įtaka 7-8 metų vaikų fiziniam išsivystymui ir pajėgumui / Influence of juvenile idiopathic scoliosis on physical capacity and development of 7 - 8 years old children

Juvenile idiopathic scoliosis usually first detected in children between three and nine years of age. The juvenile form occurs in 12% to 21% of all patients with idiopathic scoliosis and 27% – 37% of cases - requires medical intervention. Juvenile idiopathic scoliosis, if progressing further, has influence not only on spine deformities, but also on deformities of ribs. Many studies have attempted to uncover the physiologic process underlying idiopathic scoliosis. Multiple abnormalities have been found, yet none has been conclusively linked to all cases. Aim of the study: the aim of this study was to analyse influence of juvenile idiopathic scoliosis on physical capacity and development of 7 - 8 years old children Methods: 119 patients with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis (7 – 8 years) were enrolled in the study and assessed initially; analysis of medical documentation was performed. In the second assessment 24 subjects with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis and 20 children without any pathology were assessed. The focus of this study was to evaluate physical capacity and development of participants. Results: The results of this study have shown that the orthopaedic disorders in the early childhood, for example dysphasia of the hips, muscular torticollis or bandy-legged, had influence for the development of the juvenile idiopathic scoliosis. These disorders had a major influence for the development of spine deformities later.
