Cette étude descriptive, fondée sur la Théorie du comportement planifié, visait à évaluer l'intention des professionnels de la santé d’aider les femmes ciblées par le Programme québécois de dépistage du cancer du sein à prendre une décision éclairée concernant leur participation au dépistage par mammographie. Les 288 médecins de famille et les 618 infirmier(ère)s qui ont répondu à notre questionnaire ont exprimé une forte intention d’adopter ce comportement. La perception du contrôle comportemental a été la variable la plus fortement associée à l’intention, suivie de l'attitude et de la norme sociale. Les principales barrières à l’adoption du comportement perçues par les participants ont été le manque de temps et l’accès limité à l’information. L’intention des professionnels de la santé et l’adoption du comportement visé pourrait être renforcées par une formation sur la prise de décision éclairée ainsi que par la mise à leur disposition d’outils d’aide à la décision. / This descriptive study, based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour, evaluated health professionals’ intention to help women targeted by the Quebec Breast Cancer Screening Programme in making informed decisions about breast cancer screening with mammography. The 288 family physicians and 618 nurses who responded to our questionnaire had a strong intention to adopt this behaviour. The perception of behavioural control was the variable most strongly associated with intention, followed by attitude, and social norm. The main barriers to the adoption of the studied behaviour, as perceived by participants were lack of time and limited access to information. The intention of health professionals as well as the adoption of the studied behaviour could be reinforced by training activities on informed decision making and relevant decision support tools made available.
