La presente investigación buscó conocer la relación entre el binge drinking y las expectativas
positivas hacia el consumo de alcohol en un grupo de (N=139) estudiantes, hombres y mujeres
de los primeros ciclos de una universidad privada de Lima Metropolitana, con una edad
promedio de 18.09 (DS =1.15); además, se compararon las expectativas positivas hacia el
consumo de alcohol y la prevalencia de binge drinking según el sexo. Para llevar a cabo dichos
objetivos se aplicó una ficha de datos sociodemográficos, un Cuestionario sobre Consumo de
Alcohol (CA) (Arana, 2013) y un Cuestionario sobre las Expectativas hacia el consumo de
Alcohol (AEQ) (Brown, Christiansen & Goldman, 1987), adaptado para adultos de Colombia
(Herrán y Ardila, 2007). Los resultados indicaron una relación significativa positiva, directa y
de magnitud pequeña entre el binge drinking y las expectativas positivas hacia el consumo de
alcohol (p<0.05), con excepción de las de incremento de asertividad; por otra parte, las
expectativas poder y agresividad presentaron diferencias significativas según el sexo, lo mismo
ocurrió con la prevalencia de binge drinking y el sexo (p<0.05). / The purpose of this research was to find about the relationship between alcohol expectancies
and binge drinking in (N=139) college students, with an average age of 18.09 (DS =1.15), from
a private college in Lima Metropolitana. Moreover, the study identified the most important
variables around the sample and found out if sex have influence in alcohol consumption and
alcohol expectancies. For this aims, the research used a sociodemographic questionnaire, an
alcohol consumption poll named Alcohol Consumption (CA) (Arana, 2013) and an Alcohol
Expectancy Questionnaire (AEQ), originally created by Brown, Christiansen & Goldman
(1987) and adapted for Colombian adults population in a Spanish version: AEQ III (Herran &
Ardila, 2007). Results showed a significant positive, direct and little correlation between binge
drinking and positive alcohol expectancies (p<0.05), except with increase of assertiveness; in
addition, the results indicated that sex had a significant difference in expectancies to increase
the power and in prevalence of binge drinking (p<0.05). / Tesis
