碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 企業管理研究所 / 81 / This study was based on the international configura- tion/
coordination framework proposed by M.E.Porter(1986). According
to this study, the international shipping compa- nies in Taiwan
area were categorized into four interna- tional strategy types
:such as low investment low coordina- tion, primary global,
primary local, and high investment high coordination. The
competitive attributes were then identified to distinguish each
international strategy type, the results are as follows: 1.All
the four types did not differ significantly in their emphasis
on service differentiation and price competition. 2.The high
investment high coordination type places greater emphasis on
innovation, efficiency and quality of service process than the
primary local type. 3.The high investment high coordination
type places greater emphasis on international investment,
integration and politics than the low investment low
coordination type. 4.The primary local type places greater
emphasis on inter- national investment, integration and
politics than the low investment low coordination type. 5.The
primary local type places greater emphasis on market- ing
differentiation than the low investment low coordina- tion
type. 6.The high investment high coordination type places
greater emphasis on marketing differentiation than the low in-
vestment low coordination type. 7.The low investment low
coordination type places greater emphasis on breadth of service
than primary global type.
