Growth study of Sword prawn (Parapenaeopsis hardwickii) in the ast of Taiwan / 台灣西南沿岸海域劍蝦之成長研究

碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋生物研究所 / 81 / Age structure of Sword prawn, P.~u2;hardwickii~u1;, caught by
drag net fishery in southwestern Taiwan, were studied.
Parameters of the Bertalanffy growth curve were estimated, the
results served as base of fishery population manage- ment.
Between Nov. 1987 and Mar. 1993, body length and we- ight of
6,481 shrimps were measured. Length frequency di- stributions
were analysed by statistical method. Two co- mputer packages,
ELEFAN and MULTIFAN, which developed for studying age structure
of fish populations, were applied. Results show that the Sword
prawn population have two (0 and 1) age classes. The growth
parameter K was estim- ated between 1.0 and 1.3 in ELEFAN ,and
between 1.09 - 1.27 in MULTIFAN, respectively. Length at the
end of 0 year is 8.3 - 9.1 cm . The shrimp enters recruitment
between 4.5 and 5.7 months of age. The results were comparable
to that of ~u2;Penaeus~u1; and ~u2;Metapenaeus~u1; from other
reports. The use of computer package ELEFAN and MULTIFAN to
analyse the population of Sword prawn were considered highly
possible.
