Study of population genetic structures of two hermatypic corals hyllia ancora and E. glabrescens / 二種造礁珊瑚族群遺傳結構之研究

碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋生物研究所 / 81 / There are major differences in reproductive modes between
Euphyllia ancora and E.glabrescens. E.ancora is a gonochoristic
species, which broadcasts gametes during a short spawing season
E. glabrescens is hermaphroditic and broods larvae during
extended season. Horizontal starch gel electrophoresis was used
to investigate the population genetic variation of the two
hermatypic corals. Euphyllia ancora were sampled at Tiao-Shi
Hou-Bi-Hu, Jiu-Peng between December 1992 and May 1993. Eight
enzymes (ARK, EST, GDH, HK, LAP, MDH, PGM) were examined. No
genetic variation was detected in the two populations of E.
glabrescens indicates small Nei's genetic distance (D=0.001-
0.002). The genetic structure in similar within populations of
each of the two hermatypic corals in the areas investigated. In
addition, an UPGMA cluster analysis of the Nei's genetic
distance between Euphyllia ancora and E. glabrescens is 1.25.
