Studies on Surface Dynamics and Relationship to the Mackerel and Horse Mackerel Fishing Ground off Northeastern Taiwan by NOAA- AVHRR Imageries / 以NOAA衛星AVHRR影像觀測臺灣東北海域表層動態及其與鯖■漁場關係之研究

碩士 / 國立海洋大學 / 漁業學系 / 81 / According to the 141 available imageries, the patterns of
Kuroshio fronts are generalized to three types: A, B and C.
The locations of cold eddies are also generalized to three
types related to Kuroshio fronts: A(alone), B(west side of
fronts) and C(east side of fronts). In addition, this study
also applied the maximum cross correlation (MCC) method to
deduce sea surface current vector by continuous two satellite
imageries. And it is found that the current vectors were
affected by Kuroshio northwestwardly intruding and daily
tide. In the analysis of Mackerel and Horse Mackerel
fishing ground, it is found that the fishing position can be
generalized as three groups: east group, west group and north
group. It is also found that the west group located
around the central positions of cold eddies. When the
Kuroshio intruded onto shelf off northeast Taiwan in fall
or winter, the catch per unit effort(CPUE) increased by
fishing off Kuroshio fronts or cold eddies, especially in
the formation period of cold eddies.
